I made a reservation a while back on Virgin Galactic and am chuffed to see that they are moving closer to flying. Always dreamed of going to space. The closest I have gotten is Concorde and a high-g flight in a Russian MIG. Does anyone else plan to do this?

Well, I just checked their website. Much as I'd love to, I probably won't be doing this. I can't afford $200,000 for a flight, regardless of where its going or how much I want to go there. If the price becomes more affordable in the future, maybe. I've always wanted to see what its like up there...

    Yes, I have a reservation.

    I would love to go.

Unfortunately I think its about the best I will be able to manage in my lifetime.

I am trying to convince my partner to let me make a reservation for him too.

PS: The Concorde was fast, but frankly it wasn't all that comfortable - the cabin or the ride - compared to most international 1st C seats.

IT I don't agree about Concorde, it was fast and fun. I flew it frequently and when I was much heavier than I am now (so if anything was going to be uncomfortable it would have been at that weight).

At least you got high enough to see the curve of the Earth slightly.

Well I agree, VG is the only way I will be getting to space (or at least I think so). Therefore I think it is worth any price.

Maybe we are on the same flight? There should be a gay flight.

    Peace
    Terry

I can't say I flew it 'often', but I did do it a half dozen times or so... Don't get me wrong, it was comfortable and service was 1st class, but I always thought the cabin was 'cramped'; and by the end of the service 1st C accomodations/service on many international carriers - BA, Air Emirates, JAL, Quantas, etc was just so so SUPERIOR...

As for the VG flight... its a 1st step, but all that I'm likely to be able to do in my lifetime barring them ever building a hotel up there...

I would KILL to set foot on the moon, or better yet another planet.

I really don't understand people who wouldn't want to.

    Peace

I dont think I would go in space even though I can.. its too scary for me.. what if something happens like everyone else on the flight dies and ur the only one alive.. stuck in outer space for several days with dead bodies floating around...its a possibility..

I would sooo go in a New York minute if I had the funds. I think it would just be awesome and breathtaking beyond description up there...

Yes, ITJock, I'd love to set foot on the moon or another planet, too. What a rush that would be! icon_biggrin.gif

Hmmmm... a gay flight... great idea, ursamajor...

Maybe I'll win the Lottery in time to go... but I'm not counting on it.

True... anything is possible. A sinkhole could open up under my feet in my own back yard tomorrow and swallow me... that's definitely possible, too. I guess for me the chance to fulfill a dream would far outweigh any negative possibilities. I tend to believe that, if its my time to leave this life, I'm gonna leave it... regardless of where I am or what I'm doing. So I might as well go out doing something I'd enjoy, right? icon_wink.gif

    atleast you wouldnt starve.

I would also kill for the chance to go in space: working on the space station, journeying many months to a newly discovered; inhabited planet.
