More recently I've been seeing ready-made protein shakes in vending machines and supermarket fridges.

    ( This sort of thing: http://www.lucozade.com/SPORT/products/strength/protein-shake/ )

    Are these any good?

I was under the impression that if you mix a protein shake and then leave it for too long, it becomes less effective. Is that right? I just find myself wondering if they're just a rip-off con.

A good term for them is RTDs which is not an STD. It stands for "Ready To Drink". RTDs are fine and the protein quality in many of the products are great, like in Muscle Milk. I think you might be thinking of Creatine Monohydrate, which possibly can turn into a toxic substance if left in a liquid state for too long.

I don't like the RTD protein shakes. Two reasons: 1) They're expensive. 2) They're full of vegetable oil.

You're better off buying a big tub of protein powder and a shaker bottle.
