Hey, guys. Just seeking some opinions on how/what you all think (or feel) about go-go dancers/dancing. I, personally, think it looks pretty exhilarating and a lot of fun...so I'm trying it out this Sunday (as MJ's in Silverlake for those of you in the Los Angeles area that want to come support :winkicon_smile.gif. I've never danced before, but it's something I've been interested in trying for a while now. For those of you that have done it before or know people that have, any tips and/or advice you can offer? And what do you think of it in general?

You will do fine and if I was closer I would come watch you. Movement is the soul of my life as well for many others. It's an art. You get to express yourself and have fun and even burn calories. It's good for you and everyone who watches. It's a trill ride like non other. It goes way back to the belly dancers and you just need to remember one thing...It's all in the hips babe!!

i danced when i was 18 and tiger heat had a saturday night at the 7969 (now voyeur) called heart throb. my ex danced for circus and arena as well as rage. eh... easy money and depending on the place, free drinks. it is what you make of it... youre not suppose to let people touch you down there. they are suppose to tip you at the hips. anyway, good luck and really. its up to you whether you let them go crazy on you. have fun with it!

Thanks, Jrunner. I'm doing it on a Sunday because that's the day the promoter decided to have a party. Easter Sunday. What a way to celebrate Jesus, right? Haha.

Having gogo'd in the past i find it interesting how some people react to a guy in a g-string....
    ADVICE:
    1. If your dancing in a gay club, dont pay the females more attention than the males..[ this will truly fuck with your money ]...
2.Dont keep your money stuffed into your crotch area, if you do then wear a condom..[ as you know money is filthy ] and dont let it come in contact with your dick head.......GERM CITY..
3.Never allow someone to stick a bill up your ass,[ the germs and dirt on money is tremendous ]....
    4. Do smile and touch yourself often, [people seem to really like that]...
    5. Workout,,!!!!!---if you know your dancing that night eat very light, the last thing anyone wants to see is a belly,[unless you like bellies] and keep a firm body, remember your the fantasy.!!!!!!!!
    6. Pay extra attention to frequent tippers....
    7. Always be on-time for your bookings....
    8. Keep in mind ,IT'S A JOB, nothing more, if someone is unattractive or not exactly somenone you'd ever want to talk to LET IT GO, your there to make money...PERIOD....
9.If you have an asset, SHOW IT, if its buns then show that ass,,,if its a big dick,,then make it hard,,,,make them want you.....$$$$$
10.Remember its a drinking environment and you know how some people can get.....
    Have fun with it..!!!!!!!!!!!

ALSO Gstrings are not allowed in CA. Your ass has to be fully covered... well... for the most part.

ALSO have a lockerlock on hand! you will need it! Not all dancers are honest!

MJs is an AWESOME bar to dance at! Have a blast! I loved dancing there!

My only problem with go-go boys is when they get drunk while doing it and look like a complete wreck. There's a fine line between being sexy and being trashy. Don't cross it, and I'm sure you'll do great. Just keep it classy and sexy.

Can you turn off the BOLD type? It's kind of like screaming. Annoying.

To the original poster, you should probably do a search in the forums on the topic. This question get's asked a couple times a month.

Don't get drunk, but get up there while buzzed. It helps you have a little fun and not be so tense.... as gay men can quickly tell when you are nervous...

Thanks, everyone that replied. I had my first gig tonight (just got home). It was awesome. I didn't get most of your advice(s), until now, but I did what you recommended anyway. I didn't get drunk, but I got a good buzz. I kept it classy and fun, and I got to know some of the other dancers. They were really cool. I understand that not all of them are honest, but the 3 that I met were awesome. I had a blast. My legs felt like jello for a bit, but that just means I gotta work on them more. I'll be dancing again at MJ's on Sunday. I'm kind of excited now. Thanks again, guys. =)
