When you guys get the chance, compare this to the original 1981 film starring Harry Hamlin, who also starred in the 1982 movie Making Love, which he plays a gay hustler who falls for a closeted doctor married to one of the original Charlie's Angels Kate Jackson!
    Whew!

I watched it last night with my room mates and I was disappointed. I felt like there was very little that was actually in 3D (lots of times I just took the glasses off because they were unnecessary) and the climax of the movie was about as anti-climactic as it gets. icon_confused.gif

This is one of those movies that probably doesn't need to be in 3D

I agree with this. It didn't need to be in 3D.
However, it was the end...and if you've read up on your mythology, most things end pretty anti-climactic-ly or don't end well at all.

I saw it the night it came out and I had to see it in 2D because the people I was with didn't want to spend the extra 2 dollars to see it in 3D but thats whatever. I really liked it despite the constant comments from my group about the things they thought were wrong. Im going to see it in 3D no matter what the reviews say! And yes, Sam is nothing short of amazing. He is part of the reason I never get tired of Avatar!

Really? I thought it was pretty terrible. The reviews were pretty bad, but I saw it anyway because I loved the original when I was a kid. Everything the critics complained about was true. The writing made the original Star Wars seem like Shakespeare. There was almost no character development, it was heavy-handed and predictable. On the other hand, the effects were great. That seems to be the case with a lot of Hollywood blockbusters these days, though. There was not even much of Worthington's hot body shown to keep me interested (I did kinda love his thighs in that mini-skirt-tunic thing though).

Why can't we have a film with amazing effects, hot actors AND a great, well-written story? I had the same problem with Avatar, but at least the dialogue in Avatar was slightly better.

I wanted to love it. I did not.

Now that I see the pic of the robot owl..... I remember there was a small scene in the movie with him in it. But it was basically just showing that they put him in the movie and then moved on.

POSSIBLY THE WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE.

Seriously I felt like the actors were smirking during the movie, like saying ""HAHAHA! We are actually in this shitty movie, saying this awful dialogue and people are going to PAY US!" Perhaps that was just me projecting my buyers remorse, but I swear I saw it.

15 minutes into the movie I turned to my friend and said "This is so terrible. I want to leave." He said "it has to get better."

It never did. Shitty special effects, terrible acting and script, terrible score.

    seconded.

one of the few movies i have ever left feeling like the producers owe me a refund in the form of personal check -perhaps with an apology card.

Really liked the movie especially Hades. Really well done. Unfortunately yahoo movies screwed up the time of the movie and the movie theater was only showing it in 3 D so I was forced to see it in 3D even though I did not want to and the 3D was distracting and I really dont care for 3 D movies. Most of the scenes werent even shot in 3D.

I am surprised that after a big opening this movie dropped like a rock.

I really liked the original and was weary of this remake but it delivered although I would have liked to see more dialogue and scenes involving the gods themselves like in the original

Yeah, I saw it last night... Did anyone else notice how weird the 3D was? At the very beginning of the film where they show Perseus as a baby on the boat, it looked as though some objects that were supposed to be in the background were closer to the viewer than those in the foreground. Really odd looking... and then the huge scenes with all the special effects had almost no 3D effect while there was way too much depth in the close up campfire scene at the beginning of the film. I've heard that this film was shot in 2D and then converted to 3D in post production, and if that's the case, they need to perfect that technology before ever using it again.

Sam Worthington keeps playing this same half-man/ half-something else character and each movie (while all still entertaining) has been progressively worse... but still I'll go see anything he's in just to see him do shit for 2 hours.
