Only half of the census forms were returned by the deadline yesterday. If you haven't turned yours in yet or you lost it, be sure to mail yours in and ask for another because otherwise census workers have to follow up on every residence that did not turn one in and this adds a lot of extra costs to follow up on everyone. With only half returned, that is a lot of people to follow up on. One good thing, though, is it creates lots of jobs. icon_smile.gif

They always have to go around and get at people. On the plus side, the road network got digitized because of it. Enjoy Google Maps, Bing, etc. Your tax dollars paid for it.

Could be people were a little confused with the questionnaire asking "on April 1 how many people are living in your house..." etc. -- when we actually received them earlier and were told to mail the form back "today" (the day we got the form in the mail - before April 1)....hmmmm. Maybe they waited until April 1 to answer correctly and then mail in the form.

I just got a second form in the mail today. Tempted to send it in with a completely different story. Ah, but it would be too hard to make up good names for a bunk room full of ranch hands and catamites.

Besides, my lab assistant is running the canvassing team, so I'd get busted.

I don't know why so many people are so damn lazy. Fill it out and return it. It takes 5 minutes. If you don't return it, then don't complain about the federal deficit because you have contributed to it with your laziness.

My partner filled it out and mailed it before I even got to look at it. I have no idea what the questions on it were.

Hopefully that everyone here in Buffalo filled out and sent in their census forms because this city needs all the responses that it can get due to our severe population decline over the past five decades. Like most other older, northern cities, Buffalo cannot afford to be undercounted or we risk the loss of more federal money to help us solve our many serious urban problems.

A lot of people, for whatever reason, are distrustful of the census, because they are distrustful of the government.
