Ok, I get about 5 of these a day...mostly from dudes somewhere in Kenya or Mozambique or Turkmenistan...all in broken english and saying they want to be friends. Ok, whatever...my question is, they all ask for my AIM or YAHOO messenger names.

Is there some scam going on that I'm not privy too? Why do they want to get this info? Chat on here is bad enough, like I want these guys stalking me every place else, too.

any ideas what those clever little bastards are up to?

I get those as well. I try and ask a few questions and if its clear its not really about friendship, I usually terminate the conversation. I like to chat with people everywhere, but the intent has to be right.

I'm not a big fan of the IM's, but I try to give everyone a chance. My favorite thing is when guys try to IM with no picture when I clearly say that is NO NO.

I guess some people just have so little respect.

    thanks zdrew...I owe you.

funny thing is I just got another IM from this tiny little man/woman from japan...

I am going to start a new policy...from now on when I get one of those IMs, I'm just going to sit here quietly and pretend I'm not at home...like I do with the Jehovah's Witnesses...maybe they'll just leave their info at the door and go away.

just switch IM off if you're not feeling up to the job of filtering people worth your time and people who aren't. It doesn't make you a bastard...it makes you human (well a sane one anyway).

    Bump.

I've been getting these requests lately, especially on the other site FindFred, but again, I don't do IM unless I've exchanged emails over time.

The last two, actually from this site, have been guys who are so called "models" and their own websites. Not verified or any posts on the boards.icon_evil.gif
