This is such great news. There's a big problem here in my city as well. We need a Cyndi to help take care of our own homeless LGBT youth in Philadelphia and add another shelter or two for our younger brothers and sisters.

I'm an Upper West Sider, and will gladly donate time and money to this cause. I've done the same for Hetrick-Martin/Harvey Milk High School, which is another great organization for LGBT youth in distress. I encourage each and every one of you to donate time and/or money to programs in your area. Donate money, even if it's only a couple of dollars. Donate time, even if it's a simple phonecall to pledge your moral support. Seriously. Even something as simple as moral support can help to bolster courage of those in need.

Cyndi's name is on this for multiple reasons. This was devised by Ms. Lauper. She doesn't have to fund it 100%. She's a big draw for sponsors, has a massive LGBT and LGBT-friendly following, and is a great LGBT community representative. She has a reputation of putting others before herself (you know, the way most decent people with a lot of power and money should act). So, no, she's not footing the entire bill, but you'd be a fool if you thought for a moment that she would let this fail.

Even though she's not footing the bill (and I can't imagine why she would), I'm so proud of her for getting involved this much with this kid of project.
