First with a stroke of a pen
Bob McDonnell the new shining face of the republican party
signs an executive order that says you can't discriminate against anyone
    UNLESS they're gay
What he really did was reaffirm an anti-discrimination bill
but he explicitly left out discrimination against gay people
(Which was in the Original Bill)

    Then....................
When the spineless weasel got bad press on it he made an EXECUTIVE PROCLAIMATION saying that gays should be included too
Except sweetheart - you left out the fact that Executive Proclaimations don't hold any legal weight

NOW he proclaims April to be Confederate Commemoration Month
    "cept he forgot one thing
That there were SLAVES back then

Ta-nehisi Coates said it best on Bob McDonnell's Proclaimation

If you believe that if we still had segregation we wouldn't "have had all these problems" then this is the movement for you
If you believe that your President is a muslim sleeper agent, this is the movement for you
If you honor a flag that was raised explicitly to destroy this country then this is the movement for you
If you flirt with secession, even now, then this is the movement for you
If you are a "Real American" with no demonstrable interest in the "Real America" then, by God, this movement of alchemists and creationists, of anti-science and hair tonic, is for you

I retired from my govt. job in Sept. 2009 and moved to Colorado three weeks later. Va. will never change. Best thing I ever did.

Yes, apparently we are now "celebrating" slavery all of this month.

The problem was too many dems sat on their asses and did not go out and vote like they did for the president. We became a blue state if only for a year. icon_rolleyes.gif

It is horribly sad what has happened to Virginia this past year. Yes the democrats are largely to blame because they sat on their asses and did nothing to stop a revitalizing right wing GOP from taking firm hold in Virginia politics. I always enjoyed my visits to Virginia, it is a very beautiful, scenic, historic state with so much to offer. For a modern, urban/suburban influenced state like Virginia to have such backward, unprogressive politics is just beyond belief. This is horribly sad.
