    Hey guys,
A facebook friend of mine just told me about this website - It's called spokeo.com and I wanted to share this information. See if you can find yourself on it. It lists your name, address and phone numbers! Someone had even posted pictures under my friends name. You can remove your profile by going to the home page and clicking on "privacy" at the bottom of the page. I wanted to share this with everyone, so please pass it on to all your facebook and other friends. What an invasion of people's privacy. No wonder there is so much ID theft. Hope this will help everyone. I already removed mine.

If someone's trying to steal my identity there, they're gonna have a hard time.

There are quite a few "people search" sites. It's all compiled from publicly available records, as well as private companies (your bank, credit card company, Facebook, etc) selling your personal info.

These sites also scrape data from job hunting sites. I had an email address that I only used for job hunting. And when I searched for my name on one of those sites, that particular email address showed up in the results.

I think it's fair to say that everyone should be cautious about what they reveal about themselves, both online and in your daily business with various companies.
