Working out in the morning?

My schedule is pretty tight right now in school, and I'm thinking of working out in the morning rather than at night. However, I have a few doubts. I remember people saying it does not matter what time of the day you work out, but I feel like I would be too tired and hungry to work out in the morning. I mean after getting like 8 or so hours of sleep, I feel like my body would need some food for fuel. Therefore, I keep thinking that I could not perform my best at the gym in the morning. Any thoughts?

Ok, don't quote me on this, but I read once that testosterone levels are the highest in the morning, providing you get enough sleep throughout the night - some where in the 30% > range. Which would then led me to believe that results of working out in the morning would be increased. (Chucky probably knows for certain.)

I, for one, have tried to get up early and workout - not possible. I'm simply not a morning person.

Eat breakfast when you get up before going to the gym. Problem solved icon_smile.gif

You're on the right track. And personally I have found the mornings best time for training, however I am middle distance track and only gym a couple times a week.

Depending on your work hours, if you can get a workout in in the morning, but definitely a good breakfast afterwards, then you will end up loving it. Seems to supercharge me for the day icon_smile.gif And I love to relax in the evenings if possible.

I'm in school too and love going to the gym in the morning. It's more relaxing, I can use the machines/weights I want to use when I want to use them, etc. Like others have said, just eat something before working out and you'll be fine. It's a great way to energize yourself :-D

Breakfast like a king; dinner like a prince; supper like a pauper. Eat. You're very thin. If you're tired and hungry in the morning, eat.

You do what you need to if you're of a strong mind.

Sometimes, I do three-a-days. Right now, we're doing two-a-days. You should be able to work out in the morning.

Eat. If you're not getting adequate calories, of course, you're going to be lethargic. DOH!

It's the reason I joined this site but have been increasingly disappionted with all of the senseless drivel I have witnessed here as of late.
    Again, thank you!

Yea I work out in the mornings, and eat a whole-grain english muffin and a hard-boiled egg about a half hour before I hit the gym (weights first, then cardio), then have a protein shake and a good energy bar when I'm done. Lunch is a couple of hours later. Took me a while to figure out what worked in terms of timing, but that does it for me, no energy problems now.
