I had almost forgotten about these guys and their witty, political music from the mid 80s, but an old friend referred to one of their songs and then I had to go hunt them down.

They're not together anymore, and Ron Romanovsky has been doing his own thing, but you can still order their CDs from their website at www.romanovskyandphillips.com

So who remembers them? Who saw them in concert (besides me)? What is/was your favorite song?

I remember them. They were the first gay musicians I knew about them. Emotional Rollercoaster is the song I remember the most!

I think Guilt Trip is my favorite, closely followed by The Sodomy Song. When they came to town (the only time I'm aware of), they performed in a Catholic church, which I thought was pretty open-minded.

There was one song they performed called "Telephone Sex", about losing your lover to phone porn lines... of course, that was before the Internet, so it's not really relevant anymore, but it was awfully funny.

And who didn't love "Don't Use Your Penis for a Brain"?

The younger guys I know that I've shared the songs with have howled laughing over most of them, and have placed a few orders themselves. It gives me a kick knowing people still enjoy R&P.
