Personally, I don't like tattoos (especially one that big) on a guy. I think it makes a guy less attractive. But it is your body, and you should do what you like. Just realize a lot of guys find tattoos unattractive.

A lot of guys find them sexy as hell though too...

I like it, you clearly have a high devotion to music looking at your profile and i happen to be one of those guys that thinks tattoos are sexy icon_wink.gif

Since you're wanting to get into acting I'd recommend something not so large. They're a bitch to cover properly. [See latest Glee episode and the horrible cover job they did to Corey's shoulder tattoo] If you're wanting to do just music. Go for it. Your body your choice. If it makes you happy. Though for something so big and permanent, if it's your first, I'd look into either getting a nontoxic marker and doing a rough version of it and just live with it for a few days and see how you feel about it, or look into getting your design made into a temp tattoo. It's a bit costly but it's worth knowing if you really want it or not.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard! It's kind of like saying a lot of guys find your face unattractive.

But it's a cool idea man, just think it over cause it with you for life!

Do you really want a tattoo that big when you're 30, 40, etc? It's your body, and obviously you're free to do what you want, but try to keep in mind that your taste at age 18 will likely be very different in a few years time. Fashions change and so do people.

I'd recommend choosing some cool clothes, accessories, etc. if you're looking to create a unique look, rather than going for something so permanent.

It's mostly because I love tribal and music, fusing them together ...I will always love music, and at 30 and 40 the only person who really will be seeing me naked or shirtless will be my husband hopefully.

I've always LOVED tribal or unique pattern type work and just never found one that would work on me, when i saw this i went CRAZY.

I'd ask the artist if he can do something that is music notes that merge into a tribal pattern.

I like the big tribal one. The music tattoo is not really tribal style. It's just black. So, I don't think the two work together.

    Quantify "a lot".

Statistically 65% of the population between the ages of 18-25 now have a tattoo that is visible in casual attire.

To the OP, from someone who has 53 tattoos, if you are ASKING for an opinion about it, don't get it. It's a tattoo, not a t-shirt. You can't take it back, hand it down, or give it away. If you are questioning it in any capacity, than I would suggest refraining from getting the tattoo.

PS The ribs... is this your first tattoo??? I hope you aren't a sissy, because the ribs are nothing but searing hellish pain when being tattooed.

I agree...show the artist what you like and ask him to fuse the two in an original design. I showed my guy pictures of what I liked and also sketched out some ideas myself, then he hand drew it and it came out great!

Tribal tattoos are most likely just a craze. They weren't here years ago (afaik...), and fashions change all the time. Are you still into the same characters / fashions / etc. you loved at age 10? Your taste will change...

ACTUALLY "tribal" style tattoos are based on... well... tribal tattoos. The base designs have been around since time in memorium.

I think it looks super hot -- and has personal meaning to you. Therefore, I think it's perfect. As long as you're not going into the tat shop and picking something random off the wall in 10 minutes, I love tattoos -- this one will be smoking hot. Please remember to post- "after" pics!

I'm generally ambivalent about tats. Some look great on a guy, others not. I might skew more towards the blank canvas. You've got a killer bod. I've always been a fan. But, if you're going to do one of these two tats, I'd go with the upper one. I definitely wouldn't connect the two or have them in the same area, I don't think they compliment each other. If you really like the second one, put in on your shoulder or your back or somewhere else, but I'm less a fan of that one.

Trying to compare someone's natural face (i.e., something one is born with and outside of surgery unable to do much about) to an artificial tattoo (i.e., something one decides to have later in life) is the ridiculous comparison. I understand some people like tattoos and that is fine. I just personally prefer natural skin. The OP asked for opinions and I give mine. Ultimately it is his body and his choice.

It's a big decision and to be fair, I recommend you speak with people who have tattoos and those who've elected to try to remove them (which is very expensive and painful).

Here's a link to some tattoo removal clinics in your area. Perhaps they can refer you to some current patients or offer advice on the "why not" part:

    http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=Pomona,+California+tattoo+removal&fb=1&gl=us&hq=tattoo+removal&hnear=Pomona,+California&view=text

The "why yes" part you can probably get by messaging guys online.

I'm so glad someone caught that... try spending some time in the south pacific and see if the native islanders think that their tribal tattoos are " just a craze that wasn't here years ago"

IMO, the torso tattoo can be very sexy and appealing, esp in that location.

i would suggest working with the tattoo artist to "personalize" it a bit more than the standard flash tattoo in your pic...

you are aware that that area of the torso can be quite painfull? icon_sad.gif

In total agreement here, get something personalized that speaks to you or about you.

I hate when I ask a guy the story behind a tattoo and the response is " it was # B-14 on the wall at Ed's tattoos Shop" FAIL!

my first celtic bicep band was off the wall flash. all my others started off as standard flash but the end result was "tweaked" into a fresh, new design by me and my tattoo artist. he and I went back and forth for over a year before both agreeing on my large celtic back piece. icon_cool.gif
