I would like to meet one of these really butch/masculine gay guys... but doesn't seem to be any of them here in KC.

    This show looks cool.

this ... this is what needs to happen to all those masc. versus feminine threads ... we are who we are and there is no need to hide. be cautious of some, yes, but no need to tear each other down and ridicule our community into the same partisanship that divides the united states socio-political sphere.

That was a great show. . . im on 2 hockey teams, one gay and one straight. Its kinda tough for the "butch" factor because you really dont know who is gay. Ive been passed over and passed up guys myself because there really is no so called "gaydar" when it comes to the buthc factor. Hence the reason I am probably still single. . I feel for the fem guys but they have it so much easier to be happy. They are more comfortable in the clubs and its easier to meet other people like themselves.

    Razz,
    That's interesting.
What would happen if you walked into your str8 hockey team and announced that you were gay?
I guess the str8 boys would freak, the gay boys would ask you out. LOL
But, like the guy said in the video, once they know your gay, that's what you become, doesn't matter how you've played or what you've done in the past... it all goes away and all they do is see you as a gay guy.

I think my frustration is that I am totally attracted to these types of guys and I don't know how to find them.

Guess that may be a frustration for all of us.

The Butch Factor was the reason why my STRONGHOLD wrestling documentary didn't make it into the Melbourne Queer Film Festival. It was down to our two films for a masculinity theme and they chose TBF because they felt wrestling would have been too niche.

    Sigh. icon_cry.gif

I recorded it last night and will watch soon.

Saw it on dvd the other day! Like the documentary's ending remark, something like: we shud be more fluid & have fun discovering & accepting each other & the whole spectrum of gays out there from the flamboyantly out to the straight-acting in.....

Me too, I don't have Logo,

But, here's what I'm going to do tomorrow... after it airs tonight.

I'm going to go to www.logotv.com and see if they post the full episode so I can watch it. I'm hoping they do.

Fuck that. I hate jumping through hoops to watch something "free." I'd rather pay for it than receive shitloads of annoying text spam.

What text spam? You can just click the megavideo link (version 3). It works just fine.

I saw this a while ago. Very interesting but I think a lot of it has been discussed over and over in these forums so I didn't feel like I was learning anything new.
Gay sports teams seem like a great idea for more masculine homos who don't really fit in with others...can make tons of good friends too. Wish I didn't suck at sports.

OK, here is my feeling about this documentary, which I watched on Saturday.

This film should be aired on regular network TV instead of just gay TV. Then for the first time many masculine men afraid of their feelings about being gay, or other guys being gay, will see people like them, and also appreciate other less-masculine men in the context of varying sexualities. Because it had a good mix of masculine and feminine gays in it, it dispells the "one size fits us all" belief held by many straights.

What I didn't like about "The Butch Factor" was the background music they chose throughout. It gave it a slapped-together one-time watch feel rather than a more important documentary about men's sexuality.
