Ciarsolo saidI think a distinction needs to be made between porn star and some random joe who made yippie in front of some old guy's handicam.
Is there more cache in having sex with a porn "star" than with someone who did porn? Why?
Isn't the term "star" a non sequitur after the word porn, really, except in the eyes of the people who market it? And in the bizarre subculture that fetishizes the people who act in pornography? Most people use pornography to get off and don't care too much about the basically fungible hotties who help them on their way. To call even people who make a living acting in porn films "stars" is really kind of bizarre.
I'm not putting down any people who do porn at all, just questioning the odd elitism in the post I have quoted. How many actual "stars" are there in the porn industry, meaning actors/actresses who have made fortunes solely out of appearing in pornography and are world famous?
Does celebrity elitism really have a place in this discussion?
