I'll go first I guess. Mine's pretty unique I'd guess:

Everywhere I go I see people trying so hard to be happy, facing impossible odds in a cold indifferent world. I just wanted people to be able to feel like they're not alone and I feel like people should get a helping hand when they fall down. I've got a special place in my heart for people trying so hard and life screwing them over I guess...

It's nice that you have a dream (said by one of the chief culprits).

Other than my stubborness I want to see my nephew grow up. He doesn't have a dad, and his grandfather hates the black side of him. He has really grown attached to me and I want to make sure he grows up successfully and try not to disappoint him too much along the way.

Gregg !!! that is great !!!! I live to see every good day where I have the freedom and the will to accomplish a little something and say something to brighten someone elses day, thereby making mine better. Add to that a call every several days to, or from one of my two grown children.

When I was younger and oozing of teenage angst:

    Being gay, no choice. LOL

    Life is hell.
Church says I go to hell when I die.
If I commit suicide I go to hell.
If I live to a ripe old age then die, I go to hell.

So, living's certainly better than going to hell. ;)

Nowadays, I dunno what drives me... the thought of finding happiness probably. I want to be happy with someone, even for just a moment in my life.

And yeah. Bite me! I'm romantic. ;)

last saturday, i saved a dog that was about to get run over by a car, called the owner who came to pick it up at my place...the smile on his face, the look in his eyes when he saw his dog! that's what i live for and keeps me going. not rescuing dogs right, i mean share special moments with people, give and receive...icon_smile.gif

i have to admit though that listening to Dolly Parton helps a lot overall...

Singinloudasican - you are a great guy - helping out an animal like this. I've done this too - a few times in years past.

In my own way I try to do good things, making the world a little better each day - whether it be in business, at the gym, the pools, wherever I go. I think it is good also to be really nice out in public - to waiters, barbers, taxi drivers - to anyone we come in contact with all day......not only because it will come back to us - but just generally to make this a better place while we're here.

Choice is what keeps me going. To some people it is nothing, taken for granted... But think about all the amazing choices we make everyday! It is amazing in my opinion.

I live for the ability to choose my tomorrow.

I suppose what I live for is trying to find my place in the world. I think that our world is so vast and complex that it is hard to find a definite place for it in the world. In the meantime, I'll keep trying to find my place.

A few reasons. The main one being that I believe change happens one person at a time and that if I bow out i can't change anything. It would be the ultimate failure of my existence.

This could potentially be a very long write up but I'll keep it short.
I live to learn about myself and others. When something bothers me or scares me or makes me mad I live to figure out why and then nip it at the root. I live to help others do the same and to basically make those close to me smile.

Knowing I can make a difference in this world (I know it sounds corny). Right now I'm in the process of getting an education that I can then use to leverage positive social change in the future. Each time I see someone suffering somewhere in this world, I am reminded of why I need to continue on this path.

I live to give back, dedicating my career and life to contributing positively to others' strife. Although I live by "work hard/play hard" so I'm sure to enjoy this life myself, I feel that my life is not about me - it's about what I can contribute.

Some days, it's anger at injustices I see everywhere that keeps me going - but I work to channel that into productive avenues, not just being angry to be angry.

It's taken years for me to get to this point in my life, I figure that if I woke up this morning, my work is not finished and I have something to do today.

I shed a bit a of a tear when I read that. Very sweet.

Well the fact that I thought I would be dead by now keeps me going. I tested for HIV in 1995 and my doctor said at the time it takes about 8-10 years before a person's health really starts to deteriorate. I consider myself very lucky to be alive and healthy.

I also have a very simple goal in life that keeps me going. When I am on my death bed I want to be proud of more things I have done then ashamed. I want to feel my life has made a difference however small. Corny but true.

And finally my partner and his love and support make life enjoyable and worth living. It makes getting up in the morning and returning home at night a lot more enjoyable. I have had long periods of loneliness in my past so I know how fortunate I am.
