so im getting kind of worried because ive had this bump on my arm for more than a year but never paid much attention to it because it never gave me trouble, until now. i have this bump right under my upper forearm, and it has noticeably gotten larger throughout the year. i cant really explain it. it seems like a ball of tissue or something. but anyway, i can barely work out without it causing pain. even on simple tasks like push ups, weight lifting, punches, etc.

ive never heard of anything like this or know anyone who has had a similar problem. so i dont really know what to do. im thinking of seeing a doctor for it but what gets me is i have a feeling it could turn out to be some form or cancer or something. which would piss me off and is getting to my head.

anyone had anything similar to this, any solution or suggestions?

Never ask a health question on the internets unless you want a terribly uneducated answer from a bunch of not-doctors. Such as:

Did you get a TB test lately?

    "Skin Reaction
    # TB tests can create bumps upon the injection site a few days after having received a shot. Small bumps are normal. However, large bumps are not. Your clinician will measure the size of your bump, how hard the bump is, and how raised or swollen the bump is. Redness at the injection site may also occur. According to Rutgers, some individuals may experience adverse reactions to a skin test, such as abnormal swelling of the arm or skin death. "

    ^ he's joking.

Go see a dermatologist asap. Do not keep putting this on the backburner.

anyone who gives you medical advice on-line with out an examination is an idiot,

you have a lump, go get examined, it will take physical examination, (like touching, squeezing and maybe a biopsy) to determine what the real problem is).

Don't second guess your health, it's not worth it.

Otherwise, you might as well go see him:

It is probably just a cyst.
I'm guessing you do not have insurance or you would have it looked at already.
make a plan to go to your local health department; be prepared to stand in line.
Or get a friend to drain it.

Get it checked out. If you cut it, or it opens or even if a hair follicle is irritated, and you are working out at the gym, it could lead to a nasty Staph infection.

It sounds like after a year of having this lump you are turning into "Chicken Little" icon_eek.gif

As " reppaT" said go see a Doctor

As shortshyguy said never never never ask a medical question on the internet or especially this site icon_eek.gif way to many pseudoscientists.

Go see a qualified medical professional.

If you're going to put it up here, don't insult the viewers with such a minimal effort. Take a picture of the thing. Describe what happens around the item. Describe or draw the location. "bump on my arm" is not very descriptive at all. Your lack of effort, and lack of attention to detail, are very telling. No person, if if qualified, could help you with so little information. You could have a ganglion cyst. They're real common. You could have another kind of cyst. You could have a muscle tear. You could have a carbuncle / boil. You could have a list of items lots of folks don't know about. At the very least, if you're going to ask questions in a forum, do your BEST to describe the item, and provide pictures off it.

Study up on cysts, and bumps on arms. READ. Look at pictures. If you want to self-diagnosis (and, that's often the best because many medical folks are idiots, and you need to know when they're completely in south field) then study, study, study. You can do it.

Go see a Doctor. They can usually take care of it right away. I had the same problem and I get them fairly regularly and I just go to the Doctor and he removes it and sends it for a biopsy just in case. Most of mine were just cysts formed from fatty tissue and they get quite painful if not removed right away.

Probably a cyst or if you have ever had a splinter that never came out, your body can envelope it and shut it off from your body, building up layers to avoid it screwing with you. (this is rare, but happened to my brother years ago, its a minor procedure)

It could also be a Lipoma, which is just a collection of fat cells that form benign lumps / tumors. They're not cancer and mainly a cosmetic concern.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lipoma

As others suggested, you should see a doctor, but there's no reason to start assuming the worst. It could be harmless.

"Don't bother to go see a doctor. Wait another year and see if it goes away on its own."

    Agreed!
