Your RJ "name" or "on-line handle"...
Jan 28, 2008 5:22 AM GMT
Some of the names are fascinating, some funny, some cryptic, or whatever. Can you tell the story behind how you picked your name?

I am "Sporty_G"....I got this nickname from a guy on my softball team in the early 90's...he used it once in public with the rest of the team there in a game and then at the bars afterward and it stuck. I have used it ever since...."thank you" for the name Carleton where ever you are now.

fuck, i thought of starting this thread early on. damn! lol

"ZIMATAR" is an am radio show in the philippines from the late '70s to early '80s... it was on every 8pm... just before i go to sleep... i gave more attention to my very first transistor radio (i don't recall if it were fisher price or sesame street design) than television as it was given to me as a birthday gift when i turned 4 years old... every 8pm on school nights, the announcer would go:
ZIIIIIMMMMMMMAAAAAAAATTTTTTTTTAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRR!!!!!
(think the way He-Man would yell "By the power of Grayskull!")

ZIMATAR is a Filipino action hero battling supernatural evil forces that endanger mankind. too bad it was not adapted as a tv show nor a movie

RBY71 is just representational of the Red Blue Yellow primary colors that are also interchangeable with letters in my name with the year I was born tagged on at the end.

I chose to go with this one because on other sites I've always had to have kinda silly names like KillerGardenGome or RabidMonchichi and I wanted to have NowShowMeOnTheDollyWhereTheBadManTouchedYou as one, but the site in question did not allow that many characters in the name box.

I chose to go with a boring name on RJ because when I signed up it seemed like a very very serious site and I was unsure that any silliness would be appropriate, let alone tolerated. Thank you all for validating that assumption

My handle is what the Eddie Murphy character Buckwheat used to say when singing 'Lookin for love in all the wrong places' on an old Saturday night skit.

I think he said wookinpanub when trying to say 'lookin for love' but I like nookinpunub better.

'Lookin for love in all the wrong places' was used in theUrban Cowboy movie with John Travolta

Alright so everyone always asks why I chose such a dark name so here's the explanation:

Life sometimes forces us to make hard choices - it's inevitable. In the past I did something to help a certain someone that to them probably felt like betrayl. That pain is my own burden to bare, because even if I meant the best and believed it was the right thing to do, I still managed to cause harm. In the future it will be the same, but at least I can live with a clear conscience and with no regrets, and thus it is my life, my choices, that result in my pain, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

freakyninjamonkey...heh, well this name came about a few years ago. Was trying to make a name for my AIM account but everything I tried to use had already been takes (DAMN PEOPLE GETTING TO THE NAMES FIRST). After some thought, and help from the shirt I was wearing (the shirt read "No, it's not raining. That's actually my ninja monkey pelting you with poo!" ) I tried ninjamonkey...and that was a miss . Well my friend said that one of my other names I tried was knida freaky...and thus freakyninjamonkey was born. I can also say with a 99.5% certainty that when I use this name, NOONE already has it picked lol.

I've never seen Zimatar either, zim.

Sedative14

14 - my favorite number, since I was born January 14.

Sedative - hmm... one of the four handles I usually use.

One is my 'straight' handle (I'm still closeted and thus never use it), it has a much better background story. Heh. Coz I based it off a poem I wrote back in high school.

The other three, including Sedative, are used simply because I like the sound and I'm not a hundred percent sane anyway. If the ones I've chosen are unavailable then I'll pick between the three. In this case Sedative14.

Deep Ellum is an arts, entertainment and shopping district just northeast of downtown Dallas, close to my home. I've seen the area described as Bohemian, a bit rough around the edges. You won't find Brooks Brothers, Banana Republic or Starbucks in Deep Ellum. But you're in the right neighborhood if you're looking for a tattoo parlor or loud club with live music. From what I understand, "Ellum" comes from the southern drawl two-syllable pronunciation of the word, Elm, the main street in the neighborhood.

haha oh me and my screennames...
this one is self explanatory...it could mean a lot..
first the 23 is how old I am...well should have thought of that before making..cuz I guess I will always be 23? lol

but the notsoomuch is a name that coincides with my old(still use) Aim mileniumdoughboy..
add the notsoomuch-mileniumdoughboy
in high school nick named pimp daddy doughboy for all the girls I was friends with, then with y2k happening around then...made mileniumdoughboy, but since I am no longer a doughboy..I am notsoomuch

another screenname though pointless to share is dedicated to my ex.. overyoulikethat its on the same site he used daily to get hookups..so whenever I sign on he sees that...

One would think it was because my name is Colm, and I'm from Dublin, but it isn't. While both of these facts are true, Colmdublin is actually the ancient De Danaan god of miniskirt wearing chubby waitresses and cheese on a stick. It is all that I aspire to.
imperator Posts: 473
Jan 28, 2008 12:22 PM GMT
Well I didn't find out that "imperator" was an honorific title given to successful Roman generals until after I thought I'd made it up as the title for characters in some sci-fi I started writing years ago. Imperators the way I use it are superhuman special agents of a fictional government who carry out the 'imperative' missions crucial to the survival and security of their civilisation. So when I think of the word it basically means someone who does what must be done, which is a trait that I aspire to.

TWINCAM....that's hot.

mine is stupid...First of all, my name isn't tommy...people have always called me JT and I was at a bar with friends once and this girl thought JT stood for Jeffrey Thomas, so she kept calling me Tommy all night...

JT does not stand for Jeffrey Thomas...its something FAR FAR worse, and has been a horrible nickname that I cannot for the life of me shake, so now I just roll with it.

so anyway, after that girl called me Tommy all night (and then for several semesters of undergrad afterwards, my friends wouldn't let it go, and that part stuck.)

the guns comes from the fact that I have kinda big arms...and when I'd workout with my friends and we'd do arms, I always thought it was funny to give a biceps pose and yell "Welcome to the Gun Show" (dork...I know)

(not mine...I wish they were)

Tommy and guns went together.

When I signed up for RJ, apparently tommysguns was already taken, so I had to stick a number on the end...I chose 2000 cause thats the number of MnMs I ate in five minutes to get the WORLD RECORD, baby!

Caslon: most immediately it is a swipe of my male cat's name. But his name, and the name of his sister, Bodoni, are the names of typefaces. Typography is one of my great blisses in life.

Caslon: extremely popular mid-18th century typeface designed by William Caslon. The US Declaration of Indepedence and Constitution were first printed in Caslon. The old printer's rule was: When in doubt, use Caslon.

Bodoni: first of the "modern" typefaces, designed in early 19th century by Giambattista Bodoni, court printer to the prince of Savoy. A form of Bodoni was used in IBM's print ads for years.

I'm a stripper... and my stage name is Rocco.

I used to strip under my real name, Alexander. When i took a little break ANOTHER guy started using Alexander so i needed a new name.

I was watching an old Italian flick called "Rocco and His Brothers" which is about a boxer around the same time i started boxing... and people always told me i looked Italian.

I also remembered that Rocco is the name of Madonna's son... and i thought that that would be perfect!

So there you have it!

SkyTran - I was so interested in this new form of transportation that I chose to use the name as a RJ screen name. Check out the website at www.skytran.net to see what it looks like.

I have been to one of their expos that was offered in Orlando Florida. They were talking with OIA and the Florida DOT at one time. I am not sure how that is coming along. The concept sounds incredible but they need funding to get it started. It takes up a much smaller footprint than mass transit does. I look forward to riding in one of these someday.

The word "Phoenix" is my favorite word. (Actually Nirvana is my favorite word, but I'm not a Buddhist and don't want people to think I am, and have ACTUAL Buddhists mad at me.) ANYWAY, I consider myself a phoenix for as many times as I have reinvented myself or was "reborn." But when you think of phoenix's you think of fire and burning, and frozen is the LAST thing you think of when you think of a phoenix. Since the two are COMPLETE opposites, and my life has been filled with almost NOTHING but opposites. Hence, FrozenPhoenix, but I didn't like it spelled out that long so I shortened the frozen to frzn.

When I worked in government labs, they always taught us to choose user names and passwords by opening a couple of books at random, pointing blindly at the pages, and linking the two words and a page number. Then I got too lazy to walk to the bookshelf and started using two random pieces of paper on my desk. Eventually, this one came up and I thought it sounded pretty good, and there doesn't seem to be too much competition for it.

Ten years ago I needed something original for my e-mail address. I didn't want my first and last name or even a use of initials, so I came up with an amalgamation of my first and last name. I simply added the 4u as a friendly way of saying here's my e-mail letter "for you." I kept that at all of the sites I post, so I used it here. However, it was pointed out to me that at sites where people meet and chat, the "4u" part might sound a little clingy, so I've dropped it for the time being.

Something that I find REALLY strange, is that people will address or cite me as "Demarco" replacing the first 'a' with an 'e.' What I find strange about it is that that only happens at this board and happens 90% of the time. I don't care as it doesn't really matter, I am just curious about why it only happens here.

Well, Jan, at least your Mom didn't name you Marsha or I would be able to say.... Marsha, Marsha, Marsha!

Note: to anyone under the age of 20 the above reference to Marsha, Marsha, Marsha! has to do with a popular 70's TV show called the Brady Bunch.

Long story but I'll try to keep it short. A group of friends used to call me Oracle because of my, then, keen insights and cryptic answers. When I came out, to keep my mom from finding out and being worried, I went with the psudonym Oren when I went out, and later, much later after mom found out, I changed it to AURYN (from the NeverEnding story) to really tie the old nickname and the new together.

My name is ALexander and i was born in 89.
My original screen name was skippyhappy69 which i still use on seperate profiles like justguys and stuff.
I was given the nickname skippy by a bunch of kids in new hampshire and whil i was in jobcorps told somebody who told everybody else.
I thought using the word happy would be somewhat comical because anothe r wrd for happy is gay which by definition means happy and care free
And 69 is simply my favorite sex position. I love sucking cock and mine needs the attention too. LQTM

I dreampt my name.
He was the King of Spade's Knight.

The major characters in the dream were 6 girls(mostly named after greek mythological figures who chose to be turned into trees and flowers and shit to avoid being raped by the gods) and 1 boy who were all facet's of some chick's multiple personality disorder.
In the dream they had to wake her up, but in doing so, would end their own existence.

However Briarhawk wasn't one of them. he was a character in the world they had to traverse to wake her.

Thank Goodness for serial dreaming!

if only i'd stuck around for the ending.

Been Briarhawk since umm...95?

My name has nothing to do with Star Wars--regardless of how much I like Star Wars.

Chewey is my fraternity nickname. It's a bit of a convoluted path to get there, but here goes.

John Clinton is my name (minus the middle name of course). The initials of that are JC. Those are also the initials of Jesus Christ. In Latin American countries, Jesus is a popular name, and many guys named Jesus are called Chewey. One of the alumni came up with this one.

Also, the Delt is short for Delta Tau Delta, my fraternity.

It's pretty much the same tag that I use on all boards.
Jan 29, 2008 5:00 AM GMT
Well now, let's see... I'd read so many profiles that began with "I'm just a down-to-earth, normal kinda guy..." and I knew I'd have none of that bosh – "just?"... "down-to-earth?"... "what's normal? and what sort of human aspires to such a thing?".

I was however inspired to come up with a nickname for myself; my real name being extremely uncommon on this side of the pond, I'd never been given a nickname growing up, never had a need for one. Also, my original RJ handle was DRKO, and I thought that it might, maybe, come off as dark, cryptic and gothic, so I wanted something that was the very opposite – light, buoyant, and effervescent.

All I knew from the get go was that I wanted something non-committal, non-descriptive, non-offensive, and non-numerical. Also, it should have no allusions to my real names, location, age, sport, personal interests, or overt sexual connotations. Yes, I was very certain that my new RealJock name should mean absolutely nothing at all.

It should be short and sweet – two syllables au maximum – and rather international in appearance and easily pronounceable to the greatest number of global citizens, and, hopefully, not mean something terribly rude in some non-European language.

I wanted something not too typically jock-like – surely Bubba and Moose were already taken, right? – yet nothing too far out in left field either. It should be whatever someone wanted it to be – cute as a puppy, or the nickname of a turbo-charged adrenaline junky, or be a cryptic anagram for a sadomasochistic cyberslut, or just as well be the sound of all antiquity like the echo of an oracle.

Furthermore, my actual surname contains the letter Ash (Ć) and I thought to myself "Gee, it'd be real nifty if I could work that into my screen name as well." "Something classical, perhaps? Grecian. Timeless. Immaterial. Hmmm." Oh, and it would be real sweet indeed if it could also end in "O" – just like my real given name – so that it would, despite all its intended obliqueness, sound unmistakably oh-so-very-masc, because – let's face it – some jocks aren't too swift on the pick up, if you know what I mean.

Naturally, me being the committed disciple of Minimalism that I am, I wanted the name to contain no more than four letters – the minimum required on RJ. Despite all of these many self-imposed constraints, I knew it would come to me, eventually.

Finally, while flipping through a magazine, I remembered the name of an interior design studio in NYC that I had visited on my last couple of trips, then – PIF! PAF! POUF! – voilŕ! Plus... a great-uncle in Europe – the relative I most resembled and admired – drove about in a pre-War Czech automobile up until the Eighties, the name of which I had forgotten decades ago:"Of course, the Aero!"

Keep it simple, I always say.

Mine has an interesting story behind it. Here's what happened. I was a sophomore in high school and I was in track as my sport. Anyways, one day while heading to a track meet, I sat in back with the jocks and we were socializing when they were talking about polishing their long swords (didn't know what they meant at the time being that I was naive). Anyways, they were still going at it and all of a sudden I said to knock it off. Well, I didn't count for my voice to go high but it did. So first thing that came to their minds was that I didn't hit puberty. They didn't care for it and one of the seniors said I sounded like I swallowed a bunch of helium. Hence the nickname Helium was given to me. At first I hated it but now I accepted it and it's something that I don't mind using at all.

Native = I'm part Native American (also Scottish, Greek and German)... but my Native ancestry is what I feel the strongest connection to...

Dude = I've been in a lot of bands over the years and there's always some guy in each band that always calls me "dude"... Go figure...

I was going to use one of my other screen names but I was just tired of being aarmand (my favorite Anne Rice vampire... with an extra "a" in front) and Nitewing (my favorite comic book superhero, spelled differently) was taken, though I haven't found anyone by that name on here.... Then I was going to use my totem animal, but Raven was also taken... so I just stuck Native and Dude together...

PSBigJoey - when I moved to Palm Springs, changed my middle and last names (middle name now Joseph- but I use "Joey") and the "big" part I'll leave pleasantly ambiguous.

- J

PS: My partner's screen names are far more interesting.

My RJ name is based on a famous grand boulevard in San Francisco called Van Ness Avenue which used to be a mansion row during the gold rush era in California in the late 1850's. After the earthquake of 1906, the vast number of mansions burned to the ground on the eastern side of the street.

Van Ness Avenue itself is named after James Van Ness, the Mayor of San Francisco from 1855-1856.

I happen to live near Van Ness this street, and kinda took a shine to the name...but you can just call me Van!

For 11 years I used a variation of the same screename and was finally tired of it. I always pride myself on being true to myself and my nature. I'm very nice, very kind-hearted and empathetic to a point that is almost unhealthy. I get very invested in people once I'm somehow connected. A lot of times, however, i'm slapped in the face with people who are inconsiderate, cruel, and, on occasion, just plain crazy (case in point, the stranger on the street who slapped me across the face for no reason...). To protect myself, I have some bitchy tendencies. The other part simply refers to where I live (Astoria -- queens, ny). So...

genqb = genuine queens bitch

It may not be the coolest name, but it's mildly amusing and it's a somewhat appropriate representation of who I am.

Yogasea I chose because yoga is one of the most grounding things I can do for myself, and meditational exercise is right up my alley. Sea is short for Seattle, AND I'm a lover of the ocean (Pisces, go figure).

Crimthann is a name shared by four ancient Irish kings, to include Crimthann mac Fidaig, High King of Eiru (circa 4th BCE). In ancient Gaelic it means "Fox" (a nickname I've had since I was a bartender and go-go boy/shot boy when I was 19 and working in Worcester).

It is also my name in the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) where I portray a 1st CE Irish Celt/former Roman slave. Fully I am known as: Crimthann Becc mac Ceadda Ui Cruach, called Vulpinus by the Romans.

translation: Little Fox, son of Chad, of the Tribe of the Hill, called Fox by the Romans.

My real name is Chad. I chose Crimthann to honor my Irish ancestry as well as the nickname I've held for many years. Foxes are always small, often underestimated, and nearly always portrayed as mischief-makers in folk tales across the globe.

It is pronounced CREEV-thon but it sounds better if you add in the Irish accent!

Single Cell Orchestra is what a musician from S.F.
calls himself on a couple of electronica releases back in the mid nineties.
(Apparently he has a new CD out, but I haven't kept up.)
I listened to his eponymous release constantly back then...

I took it for my screen name on this site and others
because I loved that CD, and thought I'd probably remain single for a long, long time.
Up until about a month ago, that is - thank God for Gregg!

A lot of people do ask me this.

I was reading a interview about someone public speaking. They talked about how it felt like they, "were on stage butt naked" instead of the audience being naked. The word 'butt' was in the margin of the book and I read 'buff'. I thought It was cool and coined it as my new online handle.

Plus sometimes I find myself stripping at a club.
& I love to be in my underwear. It fits.
I enjoy being stared at.

Powertrip... I really don't know, I like superheroes and I guess I was feeling superheroic when I signed in for RJ. Every screen name I submited was already taken, so what always happens to me happened again: I typed the first thing that came to mind and that turned out to be available so I kept it.

I always go by Rainmaker on my other profiles since I'm kind of a good listener and people always end up telling me their problems and secrets and many of them end up crying without me doing anything to produce that effect. At first I hated when that happened, I blamed myself and used to go by RAINMAKER (you know, tears = rain... what a genious I was back then ). Then I found it useful, learned the proper technique, got a license and started charging for it. People don't cry that much anymore and even if they do, they tend to leave smiling.

There's a little creativity behind mine, my parents named me Adam out of a strong desire for biblical roots. Eden references the story of Genesis and a 'perfect life', being Out of Eden is a double entrende for leaving behind perfection and living the openly gay, out, life.

zephyr = the west wind

phoenix = the mystical firebird that is constantly reborn.

One is a recurring word in a couple of my favourite songs. One is a mystical bird that I like a lot (I'm planning on getting a phoenix tattooed on me somewhere.

I also like dragons, but dragonphoenix sounded way lamer. And anyways, Madonna and the Peppers both sang a song about zephyrs and not dragons. *nods*

Skeezix was the good hearted simple-minded mechanic, from the old comic strip "Gasoline Alley". Around my family growing up, this name was used on occasion as an affectionate insult, usually if you did or said something dopey. I found myself using that name on my nephews at times, when they were younger, and being silly. When deciding on a user name, it's really just the first name that popped into my mind. Wikipedia says the word means motherless calf.

Rholaenos, pronounced something like “Roll-Lie-Nose”, or maybe easier to think of it like a breakfast cereal: “Rollin’ Oh’s”

My primary Dungeons & Dragons character is a noble wizard, a necromancer named Roland of Redmarsh first played back in 2nd edition. When I was updating the character for 3rd edition, I was given permission by my new dungeon master to choose an actual noble family mentioned in the official rulebooks for the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting to interweave his story into.

The family that seemed to fit the bill was House Karanok of Luthcheq. Here he would become the unmentioned black sheep of the family for being both a wizard (this crazy family burns them at the stake for being ‘witches’) and a necromancer (everybody seems to hate necromancers).

To better incorporate him into the (pseudo-Greek) flavor of the Karanok family mentioned in official rulebooks I wanted to reverse-engineer a more formal name for him (in the same manner in which the nickname “Bill” refers to someone named “William”). I used patterns of other male character names mentioned in the campaign setting rulebooks for House Karanok such as Maelos, Jaerios, and Naeros.

Roland –> to make more “Greek-ish” and fit the pattern of the other names - expanding the “Ro” to “Rho” and the “la” to “lae” and finally changing “nd” by removing the “d” and adding “os” to become “nos” -> Rholaenos

I later noticed after the completion of my new creation I had happened upon something that was uniquely mine in the (real-life) world so I could also use it as my screen name. I performed some Google searches before its initiation to confirm this. As far as I could ascertain, it is, in fact, truly unique. All instances of it should be related to my online identities or its original intended purpose, the more formal first name of Roland.

Tah-Dah! Do I win a prize for most complicated?

So I was at work one day (I work at Starbucks), lets call it this past Sunday, and I noticed someone was standing by the bar watching me for a couple minutes. So, of course, I asked if they were still waiting on a drink.

"No, I just like watching you work"

I kinda laughed awkwardly and tried not to get creeped out by a random watching me work. I engaged in some minor chit-chat about how freaking busy it was and how I hadn't stopped moving in about 20 minutes and how normally when it's this busy we don't work the bar alone. The customer said:

"You're doing a great job. I have never seen anyone sling a latte as fast and accurate as you have been..There's never been more than 3 or 4 drinks lined up behind you."

Hence, latteslinger. Kinda like a gunslinger...but with lattes. Heh.

Analytical because I'm an analytical chemist graduating with my Master's degree from the Colorado School of Mines
Brewer because I brew beer, meads and cylers, most of which are high alcohol content (>8%)

Living in Colorado, there is no sense in trying to create a name based of activities, if so I would have the name dunerunnerclimb14erstoskitricyclehiker or something stupid like that.

I'm tired of using writer names, I don't wanna use my real name (or my birth year, 1955), I am a nut about photography and have been since 1971, when I decided my Brownie Bullet would not cut it. It's gotten to the point where people at reunions don't recognize me until I take Nikon in hand.

jocksera... its a motivation to me in Spanish as I work to get back in shape.

Jock = obvious, refering to body type not mentality
sera = future tense 3rd person form of "to be"

Yea, I know... its kind of like speaking in 3rd person to yourself. Think of it as the little voice in your head that keeps telling you to "Push harder!" and "One more rep!"

SO, I got tired of it and started spelling it out phonetically:

"innerathlete" comes from the idea that I always felt I had a hidden athletic streak even though I was a clumsy, uncoordinated kid. I always told myself I was not physically adept at anything but knew deep down that wasn't true. I joined this site just as I was prodding my "inner athlete" to come out. I'm working out now very seriously and once I have gotten where I want weight/body fat wise, I want to do other things like climbing, martial arts, surfing, etc. Physical fitness is a love/hate thing for me because I feel a real calling to it but I have had to wage a huge war on my negative internal voices to stick with it - there has been major resistance. I've come really far - and have a long way to go...

I don't program and I don't drink coffee (unless it's a double chocolate chip frappuccino from Starbucks - but that's not coffee, it's candy)
It came from the various mispronunciations of my real name (Javier) in high school (went to school in central-florida). There was a kid who couldn't pronounce it at all who called me Excalibur. Anyway, javaman was taken on most sites so I put four 9s after it and there ya go.

That came from my favorite episode of Star Trek: TNG

interesting story.

in high school use to stay up late at night (even though i had a bed time) to peruse the internet for straight porn. it was a bitch because the only computer i had at home was the family computer and it was in the dining room, pretty close to my parents rooms. man did i have some close calls.

well anyways, a few sites i looked at were free cam sites that required user names in order to view and/or chat. so i completely made up the screen name joarky123, thinking that it sounded somewhat scandinavian in origin (a little naive and ignorant i would say)

I still use this handle (and others) to this day for other such sites, albeit my tastes in pornography have...expanded to include other 'genres'

Brady is my last name but I use it as my first. Try growing up with the name Jonathan Paul Brady and you get every nickname in the book thrown at you when there are at least two Jon/John/Jonathan's in every class/job/neighborhood/anything. I went to college and started calling myself Brady because a few High School friends did, then college friends did, and then it sorta stuck. I have the additional bonus of using my last name as my first and knowing the difference between those who knows "me" and those that know my "name" simply by how they address me. I get called "Jonathan" by colleagues that never bothered to get to know me. I don't correct them.

My handle on other sites is "PechtMex" Pecht as in the old Scots word for the "small dark people of the hills" (I had to quote Crimthann since he also has an obscure reference to a Celtic dialect) or Picts, which if you look at the rock art and pictures of my father and grandfathers there's no mistaking the resemblance.

I'm also 1/4 Zuni 1/4 Spanish, which confuses people so I often opt out and just say I'm half Scots and half Mexican.

Most people found PechtMex too confusing, so now I'm FredPDX.

I have no idea how, but a friend of mine came up with mine several years ago and he used to use it for his aim screename (with some numbers though) but he doesn't use anymore, and I liked it so I use it. Pudco is one of several screenames I have across the net.and ironically it's the only one that has no meaning really, haha.

Clearly born in 1969--definitely one of the most notable news years in the last century.

I get a kick out of people who create a profile name with their current age in it. And they keep it for years to follow as if they're Peter Pan and don't age.

I've taught Group Exercise Classes for over 13 years. I teach Step, Spin, Hi/Lo, Sports Conditioning and Interval Classes, and Muscle Classes. I am also a NATC instructor (Nike Athletic Total Conditioning). Everything I wear has a "swoosh" on it. Group Ex Instructors that are under contract by Nike are known as Nike Athletes. Hence my screen name....nikeathlete.

Mine is sort of self explanatory.

Much More Than Muscle.

Simply implies that I'm more than a gym rat. I like a lot of different things in life. Some people have expressed that my name oozes arrogance but it's not meant to be taken that way. I'm not trying to express that I'm better. I've had people meet me and then after interacting with me say something along the lines of, "Well, I thought you'd be stupid but I was wrong." It's always a pleasant feeling when people severely underestimate you before getting to know you.

umm, mine is especially random and without true meaning.

while thinking of a name to come up with, i was talking/singing to myself outloud (as i often do), and then i just blurted out a little song i heard once in a movie... i think it was "Michael" with Travolta where he plays an Angel. but Andie McDowell had a scene where she randomly sang, "Me oh my... i love pie" in that andie mcdowell accent of hers... and it just stuck!

then while singing that outloud, i thought, hey, why not use Me Oh My!
i left out the "i love pie" bit... but it's true, i do love pie.

Mine comes from an old friend I used to date - let's call him J. J saw me in a club, and wanted to get one of his friend's opinion on my look (it turned out that J's friend and I already knew each other).

The music was so loud that J couldn't get his friend's attention, so he tapped him on the back. His friend turned around, saw me and said to him, "That's old tap tap..."

My original nickname was TapTap, but it evolved to Tapper, and has stuck ever since.

A lot of people ask me, I think because it is creative and unique.

I was reading a magazine about someone, the question was, 'How did it feel the first time you were on stage in front of an audience?' The response was something like, 'I was supposed to imagine the audience all naked, but instead it felt like I was on stage butt naked.' The word, butt, was in the margin and I read buff. I thought oh hell, f-ya that's amazing. Coined it and the rest is history.

On Stage Buff Naked

I have stripped to win contests, and I've been an MC, actor and various other performers. It's just fun, and hot.

Maestoso (pronounced mī-ˈstō-sō) is an Italian musical term and is much like Marcato, but is used as a directive to play a certain passage of music in a stately, dignified and majestic fashion (march-like).

I studied classical piano as a kid and in my first two years of university. When picking a nickname for a site in the early days of the Internet, I needed one with eight characters that wasn't already taken. Works well, though a lot of people misread it as Maestro.

I thought it sounded funny, especially after I deleted my RBY71 account and created a faceless lurker account. I like the "guerrilla" aspect of ambush sassiness. The sodomite part I thought was pretty funny too. Of course, thinking I was all original and brilliant, I soon had my bubble burst when I googled my screen name and there are actually many guerrilla sodomites out there and even some t-shirts for sale.

Then of course I wasn't nearly as sly as I thought I was while leaving random obnoxious comments with a blank pictureless profile. Mnjock2003 immediately picked up on the writing style and level of stupidity in my posts and called me out on it on Facebook. Thus, I felt obligated to show my face once again and keep the name even if it isn't as original as I had once thought.

No one is life is perfect

Everyone makes mistakes

Some things are out of my control

But I have what it takes

To live life the only way I know how

Is by some considered a crime

But in spite of all that,

I'll try to live life one day at a time

Thank You for reading

ROTFL. Not just an idiot but a creep. It's almost like he's stalking me itching for a fight, making hay of apolitical posts.

You knew so little about Caesarea that you had to look it up on Wikipedia (which you've previously criticized as a bad source of information)?!

Caesarea was built by the King of JUDEA - a territory which was later renamed "Palestina" by a Roman emperor who was a foreign occupier.

Palestine, then and into the 20th century, was the Latin/European name for Eretz Yisrael, the Jewish homeland (as we've seen from maps from that period). Prior to the mid-20th century, it wasn't the name of an Arab group; Arabs can't even properly pronounce the "P" and call the territory they invaded, seized, occupied and colonized "Filastin".

Don't forget that the "Palestine Mule Corps" was composed of Jewish soldiers fighting with the Allies during WW I (the Arabs fought with the Turks against the Allies). The "Palestine Brewery" is today Israel's Nesher Beer. The "Palestine Post" is now the Jerusalem Post, one of Israel's largest news-papers. The "Palestine Brigade" during WW II was composed of Jewish volunteers in the British Army who fought the nazis.

During that time, the Mufti of Jerusalem was a guest in hitler's bunker advocating for the Final Solution. He was also the head of the "Arab Higher Committee" - the Arabs weren't yet known as "Palestinians".

But all of this has already been discussed and you've not been able to respond in nearly a year.

"Palestine" is the Latin/European name for Eretz Yisrael, the Jewish homeland
- and Arab denials of the existence of "Palestine".
http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/349491

If you're finally interested in talking peace, we're still waiting to hear on what, if anything, you're willing to compromise:

In search of a solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict: UNSCR 242, Oslo and Camp David/Taba
(Or: I support the Clinton COMPROMISE parameters. Do you?!)
http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/354843

If you can't post where it's on topic, at least have the decency not to bait where it's off-topic.

Sorry guys, this is between me and Caesarea4.

Caesarea4 Wrote: ROTFL. Not just an idiot but a creep. It's almost like he's stalking me itching for a fight, making hay of apolitical posts.

sxydrkhair Wrote: Now that’s just great Caesarea. The whole time you told me there is no such thing called Palestine. and I was only respond to your post. Here we have Caesarea insulting me and calling me a “CREEP.”

Caesarea4 Wrote: You knew so little about Caesarea that you had to look it up on Wikipedia (which you've previously criticized as a bad source of information)?!

sxydrkhair Wrote: Here we have Caesarea4 saying "I knew so little about Caesarea." And that Wikipedia link he posted in this thread. What make him so expert? I never say I know a lot more Caesarea Palaestina than him. No, but Wikipedia is not a bad source according to you. Just to pointed out how racist you are. Why can’t you admit that you are a Palestinian hater?

Caesarea4 Wrote: Palestine, then and into the 20th century, was the Latin/European name for Eretz Yisrael, the Jewish homeland

sxydrkhair Wrote: Again you fail to realize Palestine or Yisrael was a homeland to Christianity and Islam too. Jerusalem is home to three beautiful religions: Jews, Christians and Muslims. Some Palestinians are descended of Judean tribes and the land is rightful theirs too. You are in denial the fact that Palestinians exist since the British mandate of Palestine. There was money, stamp, and passport was called Palestine.

Caesarea4 Wrote: "P" "Filastin".

sxydrkhair Wrote: What is your point? Like every other languages have different names. In Hebrew, there is no J letter and they spell it out “Yerushalayim” as in Jerusalem (English). Are you going to make this a big deal? You don’t even know your own history. The European Zionist setters were invaded, seized, occupied and colonized on Palestinians land since the late 1800’s. Remember Palestinians owned the most of the lands.

Caesarea4 Wrote: During that time, the Mufti of Jerusalem was a guest in hitler's bunker advocating for the Final Solution.

samerphx/sxydrkhair> this is between me and Caesarea4

Then why didn't you email me?!

My apologies to others, but I will continue to refute false claims and accusations made in public in the forum topic where they are made. While Samer is advancing his warped political agenda, all I will do is directly respond to his propaganda.

Samer> I was only respond to your post. Here we have Caesarea insulting me and calling me a “CREEP.”

My post had nothing political about it, just mentioned the origin of my "handle"
(Um, did you notice the topic?!)
You weren't responding to what I said but to the voices in your head.
Your not just a creepy stalker but a troll, too.

Samer> The whole time you told me there is no such thing called Palestine.

FAIL! As can be gleaned from the forum title I posted in Nov. 2008 - to which you still can't honestly respond (rather than diverting with other false accusations):

"Palestine" is the Latin/European name for Eretz Yisrael, the Jewish homeland
- and Arab denials of the existence of "Palestine".

http://www.realjock.com/gayforums/349491

Samer> Palestinians exist since the British mandate of Palestine. There was money, stamp, and passport was called Palestine.

Right, starting after WW I. Which is contrary to your false claim that your "grand-father" was a "Palestinian" in the 19th century and that such a country or ethnic group existed previously. "Palestinian" during the League of Nations Mandate referred to any citizen - Jews and Arabs - but was mostly used by Jews and disdained by Arabs who argued there was no such place, that it was a Zionist invention.

The "Palestine Mule Corps" was composed of Jewish soldiers fighting with the Allies during WW I (the Arabs fought with the Turks against the Allies). The "Palestine Brewery" is today Israel's Nesher Beer. The "Palestine Post" is now the Jerusalem Post, one of Israel's largest news-papers. The "Palestine Brigade" during WW II was composed of Jewish volunteers in the British Army who fought the nazis.

Samer> [Ignored]

During that time, the Mufti of Jerusalem was a guest in hitler's bunker advocating for the Final Solution. He was also the head of the "Arab Higher Committee" - these Arabs, in the 1940s, weren't yet known as "Palestinians".

Samer> I guess the Jews that joined the Hitler’s army was bad too?

Jews didn't join hitler's army (that was prohibited under the racist Nuremberg laws, though there are a handful of cases where Jews secretly hid within the army).

Regardless, there is no comparison to an Arab leader who was best friends with hitler and played a major role in planning the Final Solution and the murder of 6 million Jews and 6 million other people (including homosexuals).

Prior to the mid-20th century, it wasn't the name of an Arab group; Arabs can't even properly pronounce the "P" and call the territory they invaded, seized, occupied and colonized "Filastin".

Samer> In Hebrew, there is no J letter and they spell it out “Yerushalayim” as in Jerusalem (English).

Holy ignorance. The spelling of Jerusalem in English doesn't come from Hebrew but from German, where the J is pronounced like a "Y".

If the Arabs of Palestine descended from the Jews and early Christians (as you claim, despite your own source saying there is no evidence of this, either historically or genetically) then they wouldn't have lost the ability to pronounce the name of their country (during Roman/Byzantine rule) simply because they adopted Arabic following the Arab invasion of 638. Unless they were native Arab speakers to begin with who arrived later.

It's as odd for natives to say "Filastin" (rather than "Palestina") as it would be to say "Jerusalem" (rather than "Yerushalayim"). Israeli Jews say Yerushalim. Palestinian Arabs say Filastin.

Samer> Remember Palestinians owned the most of the lands.

Only if you consider any land not owned by Jews - as if by default - to belong to Arabs. In the topic linked above there is a detailed analysis of land ownership - based on your source and figures (but not cooked to your order). The vast majority of the land was not privately owned. It passed from the Ottoman Empire to the League of Nation's Mandate to Israel (as elsewhere it did to Trans-Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and Iraq).

S> why you always quote it around Palestine like that term doesn’t exist?

I quote it when it is used incorrectly. For example, when you claim that there was an Arab "Palestine" in the 19th century (still can't give us a then-current map?), or when you pretend that Jordan (then Trans-Jordanian Palestine) wasn't part of Mandate Palestine (consider that the same "money, stamp and passport" was in use there as in western or cis-Jordanian Mandate Palestine).

Samer> [isn't interested in compromise or peace, only in justifying terrorism and eternal war against Israel until all his demands are met... like a ransom.]

Now stop polluting this non-political topic with your propaganda. It is pointless for you to regurgitate falsehoods that were already refuted in the other topics where you couldn't support or defend them when challenged.

I couldn't think of anything good, so I chose "RealAmericanHero," which is a play on the theme song from GI*JOE. I have always thought of myself as being patriotic and a sort of "hero" seeing I teach high school social studies and history.

Sporty_g saidSome of the names are fascinating, some funny, some cryptic, or whatever.

They call the Packers in Green Bay here "G-force". They all call me G-force at work because my real name is Gregg with 3 g's in my name and because I unload UPS trailers so fast and with strength and force like the Packers, they started calling me G-force. They are amazed at my quickness, speed, strength, and force in unloading parcel packages from trailers. lol

Pickman's Model is the name of a story by H.P. Lovecraft.

I chose it for RJ because I liked the juxtaposition of what Pickman used for a model for his paintings and what we think of models nowadays. If you've never read the story, I highly recommend it. A wonderful little commentary on what is beautiful.

On the other hand, Pickman may have just been insane!

Oh, Lovecraft, a wonderfully wicked mind you had.

Pickmansmodel said A wonderful little commentary on what is beautiful.

Pickman didn't seem to think his model was beautiful, just interesting.
The story can also be read as a warning that if you spend too much time breathing the dank air in the Boston subway, derangement may follow.
The story would come to mind whenever the train would inexplicably stop in the tunnel, as they often did.

Wow. This is one huge MF thread. Here's me doing my bit to make it longer.

Mine's a reference to a now-old but significantly pioneering DnB track by Omni Trio called "Trippin on Broken Beats" - for me it symbolises the halcyon days of DnB which had a massive influence on my life and defined not only my university/DJ years, but is an essential part of who I am.

The nature of the name meant I could pretty much count on it being available in all but the most specialist music sites. I had half-hoped that it would act like a code to anyone who has similar memories; it was one of the seminal tracks of the day, along with Metropolis, Dispatch 2, Watching Windows, In Too Deep, and etc. Unlike a lot of the other track names, this one's not easy to confuse for something else.

Whenever I give my name to someone for the first time I usually get hit back with, "Oh, like the Inferno" (referring to the Divine Comedy), or "Oh, like the Peak" (referring to the 1997 film starring Pierce Brosnan and Linda Hamilton). It started when I was a kid, and it has never gotten old. Not a week goes by in which I don't hear someone make the reference.

Any guesses?
