    Now why can't that be part of a 30-minute ABC evening 20/20 or something, or on its own? It would definitely make a difference to be seen by more people, not just part of a PBS gay-life news program.

    Because ABC is afraid too many conservative families will call and threaten to boycott them. They react on the conservative christians just like comedy central reacts on the conservative muslims.

    I'd think it has more to do with the fact that gays still aren't taken seriously in society. And, as long as Lady Gaga continues to informally represent us, it will stay that way.

    GLBT is not organized, and we are not taken seriously collectively because there is no cohesion. There is only sexual self-interest, and you cannot expect to have your cause validated based upon that. Thus, hate crimes are tragic, but they do not stir straight society into wanting to pay attention.
