Yes, hack is the correct term. Weekend warrior. New at the golf, so I'm terrible, but it's a good way to get some excercise, be outside, and hang with a few buds. My goal is to not suck at the chip shots by the end of the summer.

Yeah, I'm a weekend hack. I've been playing for about 2 years now. I don't know my handicap. I discovered very early on that if I didn't keep score, I had a LOT more fun. I do alright and love it enough to keep trying!

There are a lot of gay golfers. Gay golf groups are springing up all over the country. I don't have a current compilation of them, but there are or have been groups in Dallas, Orlando, Boston, Fort Lauderale, Washington, D.C., Palm Springs, Ohio, one that I know of in the UK and a few in Canada. The Gay Games has a golf competition. There are multiple fund raising Scrambles around the country. The Task Force was trying to put together a gay golf circuit a few years ago, but it's still struggling the last I heard of it. As my profile shows, I have a gay/lesbian golf group in Fort Lauderdale, and I'm always looking for new golfers. We play every Wednesday and every Sunday. We have as few as three foursomes and as many as 12. My email list of gay golfers has about 300 on it in the tri-county area of Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach County...and, contrary to popular belief, not all gay golfers are lesbians; more than half of my email list are males. Our current twice weekly games are lopsided with more males than females. We often can field 100 to 120 for a charitable event of all gay/lesbian golfers. We welcome visitors, so join us when you come to South Florida. Our out of date web site is www.thegoffers.com, but the contact info there is still current.
My index is 11.4

Golf is one of those games that you really must play rather than watch.
Here in Oz they often hold up TV coverage of my Rugby League when there's a golf tournament on.
I must say television golf is the most boring viewing imaginable.

Yes, I play. I played a mountain course on Saturday and didn't stink up the course for once! A great way to enjoy the outdoors.

NNJ, thats why you are supposed to drink and drive when you play golf. The Army doesn't allow it anymore, but they used to have an attendant drive a golf cart with two kegs on the back to serve the players.

I used to golf all the time, but swore it off eight years ago when I learned how golf courses affect water quality and ecology.
That, and at the time I couldn't afford a new set of clubs to help me elevate my game. :-)
If anyone knows of an eco-friendly golf course around Austin, lemme know.

I golf. Not as much as when I was 18 and it was free. Used to be about a 6. Now probably a 20.
Lots of decent courses in Austin but nothing like where I grew up in NC.
