ok so i may sound crazy, but I want to tone up and get my six pack back in full swing. I wanna greatly reduce my body fat but build muscle at the same time. So the idea just popped in my head. Be sure tho, that its not something i would have actually tried. I enjoy food.

Also, i heard you have to take 1 gram of protein per every pound that you weigh to gain mass appropriately. My protein shake (per serving) has about 25g of protein....so should i really be taking like 5 shakes a day?

Sounds like a hint of impatience...and that will end up making you injure yourself.

If you're really wanting quick results, I'd suggest hiring a trainer. He can help get your protien levels where you need them...and worlds of other tips and advice, too.

You could probably stay alive with just protein shakes, but you may end up doing long term damage to your body.

Real food as unprocessed and as raw as is reasonable and appropriate seems to be what research is indicating is best for the body.

A wide variety of healthy foods gives the body a broad spectrum of nutrients documented and possibly those yet known.

Besides, consider your taste buds as well. Why deny yourself the pleasure of the taste of real food? It's one of the simple pleasures in life.

Yea, there is def some impatience. But I'm getting old and I want to be happy with myself, be able to find someone, and I'm tired of seeing all these youtube videos of 16 yr olds lookin better than me...such as this one.

I def want my body to look like that.

Anywho...I'm also working on a budget so i can't alway afford to buy the healthiest of foods and best of shakes and stuff...so i'm working with what i have. I really feel like I have no time to wait anymore...

It's physically impossible to reverse the aging process. After a while you learn to live with it...doesn't make ya any less hot if you keep active, though. icon_wink.gif

Personally, its not so much the aging process that i'm too worried about right now, its just time in itself. I dont think there is a lot left of it. I mean, i'd love to stay young forever too tho haha...also, as for my face, i really dont think i'm a bad lookin guy and am pretty confident on that, its just I think i'm out of shape and its holding me back from finding the type of guy I'd want to be with for a long run.

If you expect a guy to stay with you for the long run, you might wanna find someone who likes you the way you are. Otherwise, if something happens that causes you to lose your physique, you'll lose your "love" too.

You're 26, you've got your whole life ahead of you.

And, keep you eyes on the prize, not the price. You just might find the price part of your prize.

BTW, here's a video of a young man who has been really impatient. I don't know about you, I don't think I would value this kind of result as a short circuit to the old fashioned way of hard work and good diet.

    Any questions?

You could for a short time. Initially the lack of carbs will result in ketosis which can be unpleasant. Eventually you will get nutritionally deficient.
I'm not a nutritionist/dietician so I don't know how many weeks this may take.

I looked at the label on a jug of whey protein I use (protein supplements can vary in what they contain). There were no vitamins, so eventually you will end of with something like Scurvy (vitamin C deficiency), Beri Beri, Pellagra and such...these are not cool to have

There were an inadequate amount of minerals like iron, potassium, sodium and such. ==> big problems are going to result

You won't be getting the phytonutrients and antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables==> lack of these will make you age by letting inflammation run wild..inflammation is one of the causes of aging (there is a lot written in the medical and scientific literature about inflammation).

To remain healthy, a balanced diet is necessary for the long term..

Sometimes I have a few very busy days during which subsist mostly on protein shakes, oatmeal and vitamins. I mostly lose weight when I do that.

There are no short cuts that are healthy. Just do the work it will last a lot longer. What is it with this immediate gratification culture that we have morphed into?
Living off protein shakes only are you kidding. You need a balance diet. You are eating disorder waiting to happen.

Dude protein shakes are a meal supplement, not a meal.icon_eek.gif

MuchMoreThanMuscle saidPosting that video was such an overly dramatic comparison to what MercuryMax is looking to do. Mercury simply wants to lose some body fat. There was no logic in that.

Apparently those sugar cane eating locals really love their drama....

MMTM, must your comments about my posts always include a personal attack or slight of some kind when you don't like or agree with something another poster shares?

Do you know how to attack the issue, and not the person?

"sugar cane eating locals". That phrase just about borders on a racist comment, MMTM.

I pity you, MMTM. Because you're an online bully. And, I know from my past that bullies really do what they do because inside they feel inadequate and self-loathing. It must really suck going through life with such a miserable intolerant attitude. You probably have a rough life from all the negative karma that you put out there.

But truth is the light that disinfects the festering disease of bitterness, hatred, and bile that bullies use to make themselves look and feel better about themselves. And the truth is, that you're just a small little man whose ignorance is sheathed in snarky personal attacks, and cowardace.

MMTM, you're just a waste of skin. Now how's that for a personal attack.

    In regards to your posts...

Unlike you, I can look beyond your personal character defects and shortcomings and have posted comments that have validated some of your comments on issues where you amazingly have had something valuable to share. I have also ignored most of your posts that are bullying, mean-spirited, ignorant, and just plain wrong.

If you don't like me or my posts, then just click on "Ignore his posts". Because, at this point...I'm ignoring yours.

Please dont get confused guys, this was merely a curiosity I was posing as just to know information. This wouldn't be anything I would ever do to myself.

I know guys who only eat carbs on weekends. By Friday, they're completely out of it. Will you live? Of course. Will you be impaired? Yes. Will your metabolism slow to a crawl? Yes. Is it stupid? Yes.
