So, we've talked "gaydar" here before and how accurate each of our own "gaydar" systems are. For those who have gaydar, its the eyes, the "check out" of another that seems to be the key.. but what about those you see just walk by?

I recently was at a cafe with 2 friends and saw a guy I never have seen before walk out the door, 25 feet away, I immediately turned to my friends and asked... he's gay, do either of you know him? .... They did..

So what is it? Haircut, clothes, walking cadence, look in general? If there isn't eye contact, how do you know he's gay?

For me it was the look.. that was enough.

It's all in the eyes. Some places the hair, clothing, shoes, etc. will tell you things, but in BFE, everyone wears the same awful clothing regardless of orientation!

I don't assume ANYTHING until they're down on their knees in front of me!!! Just a basic rule of thumb....

    LMAO. Good one a1972.

It's a combination of things which set off my gaydar, and it varies per person. Usually, though, it's their appearance and some other factor.

to me it's the eyes. I was with a guy last night and we were both walking out of a straight bar and one guy at the bar watched us and I caught his eyes and we both knew. It's weird.

It seems to get harder and harder these days. I couldn't figure out my trainer for weeks and then one day he was practically doing back flips through the cardio deck because he scored Kathy Griffin tickets.icon_lol.gif

I dunno. My gaydar's broken too.

A straight friend once said that it's the way we tend to check out people from the corners of our eyes. icon_wink.gif

I'd be doing the same thing. I recently learned of the sheer hilarity that is Kathy Griffin.

You know, I really don't know. Because what usually happens is the OTHER person will spot ME out and then give me the "I know you're family" look and I'll immediately know that he is gay too.

Hmm...it could be anything, like hair or clothes or cadence of walk. Mannerisms are tricky, but can also be indicators.

At the gym, the "checking you out" glance that lasts a little too long. Or just watch from afar and see who their head turns for and who it doesn't.

Mannerisms can give a tell-tale clue, but don't put yourself into an awkward position with them as your only clue.

Mine varies from guy to guy. Some people just Look gay, theres no other way to explain it, either they're facial structure looks gay or other things about them. Normally, the face is the best sign for 'looking gay' for me, such things as perfectly shaped eyebrows are a good indication.

Then, some people smell gay. Hard to explain... but it just is. Disclaimer: I do not recommend in any fashion walking up to suspected homosexuals and smelling them without permission.

Also, if you have great eyesight and you want to know if someone is or not, do something inconspicuous but slightly sexual then look at their pupils real quick. If they are dilated then the person was at least marginally attracted to that action. I use this one the most, being that I have something like 18/10 vision, this is no problem for me unless the lighting is poor.
