The Bingham Cup 2008- The gathering of the Realjocks!

I love this site, i really do, its great.

The sense of community, the friendships and relationship that i have gained from it have been life changing for me. It helped me accept who i was, people here helped me understand the concepts of being gay and being normal and being happy with it.

Its a site i log into everyday to catch up on threads, news and chat from friends around the world, it doesn't give off that sleazy vibe that gaydar, gay.com dudesnude or other hook up sites perpetuate. Granted it still gives that opportunity, but it truly has evolved to a proper community site. Its well informed, it gives good advice, its practical and most likely waterproof icon_wink.gif

Needless to say i would love the opportunity to meet most of these poeple in the flesh, if not just to be in the same area as people, who, for the most part, think and feel the same way i do.

Unfortunalty being in the back end of nowhere, or BFN (butt fuck nowhere) as i also learnt from this site, leaves little opportunity to do so. To date i have met 3 people in person from realjock, one of whom is now my boyfriend [hello you icon_lol.gif]

So in respect to the fact that i am from galway, the opportunity of a RealJock gathering that i can get too is few and far between.

From the frequent postings there seems to be a lot of rugby players on this site, so the question is, how many of you are attending the Bingham Cup in Dublin this year?

How many are playing, how many are spectating, how many realjockers, have already got over excited and made plans to meet other realjockers at this event?

yes yes, i already have too, i have a few friends competing and spectating that i am excited about meeting, and i hope that work doesn't take me away and i get to stand beside those i am happy to be associated with.

I'd like to see local or regional gatherings...kind of like they do for Meetup.com or LiveJournal.com. I think you could get at least 20 in any city of at least 200k. Hmm...(the entrepreneurial mind churns).

I'm not going to Bingham this year and it's killing me. The tournament in NYC in '06 was amazing. Listening to Mark Bingham's mom, Alice Hoagland (sp?), speak was very moving. She's the best, and somehow ends up meeting and talking to everyone.

If you ever feel like getting out of your gay comfort zone and see one way that our community is evolving, I definitely recommend attending the Bingham Cup.

Surf, Congrats on the boyfriend. Hope you are very happy together.

I'm not into rugby at all. Although I have always said, it is the gayest game on earth. icon_lol.gif
