At 25, I'm way too young to legitimately feel old!

I preface this post with this: I joke about "being old" all the time. When I was your age, Pluto was a planet... I didn't need a cell phone when I was a kid.... yada yada yada. Those are obviously in jest. This time, however, I legitimately felt a generational gappage, and definitely felt OLD.

So, I normally listen to NPR when I'm in the car. However, this week, I went to Toledo, where I grew up, for a few days. While I was in the car there, I was listening to the classic rock station of Toledo. I listened to it on and off growing up, and I remember it being predominately 60's... Stones, Bob Dylan, The Who, and occasional branching into the 70's.... Tom Petty, Springsteen, etc. I'm listening to this classic rock station when U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For." Great song, no doubt. Definitely a classic. But, it was released in 1987. I was born in 1984. Songs from my childhood are now considered "classic rock". Wow.

songs from the 90's are considered classics these days hahaha

I'm 27, life goes on, you get older, life still goes on, your age is about as important as the fluff bunny I just delt with in the most vicious of ways, although I now have a cuddle of water to deal with.

What i think is the most important part of life isn't to focus on your age but focus on life, keep getting into it and having fun.

I just turned 33 and I feel super old...I also feel somewhat like I missed out on so much because I was so unnecessarily SUPER paranoid and closeted for 14 years of my life. Most of those people that I was so worried about finding out about me are not even in my life anymore. Ugh.

But yeah, I also now get bored listening to music in the car and will download a podcast or something. My favorite to listen to while driving has been audio episodes of REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER from HBO. LOL

I'm only 24 and I had my first taste of 'getting old' the other week at my friend's house - she has a trampoline in her garden - neither of us had been on it for about seven years - somehow we decided it would be a great idea to go bouncing around - anyway, after about two jumps, my back went out and my knees and feet hurt and I felt like getting sick - she felt the same way - we ended up lying on the trampoline writhing in semi-mock pain saying "we're getting ooooooooold!" lol

It won't be long before you address some young upstart, "I've forgotten more than you'll ever know..." because you literally don't remember anything.

This and other stall tactics buy you valuable time to locate your walker, oxygen tank, hearing aid, bifocals or Life-Alert pendant (hint: it's around your neck). Then, beat a hasty retreat (complete with fist-shaking).

    Actually, about the hasty part...

I cannot wait to be older honestly... mainly Insurance is cheaper! Aside from that selfish reason, I also generally listen to also of "oldies" also, I think it's just a personal thing really.

I'm sure there are many guys and gals out there who have there own little 'isms' that make them seem different from the rest. Like I know this 22 year old girl I went to high school with who is into scrapbooking and knitting and crocheting. Go figure no?

Honestly i'm turning 25 in a few months and I think you need to gauge your life more in this sense...

As i'm going through life I simply look back and think to myself would I ever go back to say 23.. or 21.. 18? 16? and my answer to that is HELL NO.. I'm very content of where I am in my life and I feel i'm where i'm suppose to be and to go back to a "younger" age just means degressing instead of progressing to bigger and better things.. and honestly when your 30/35/40 ect ect.. your gonna come across some 25 year old punk who says he feels old and your gonna say he's soo young.. IT'S ALL RELATIVE to where you're at in ur life.. and for me.. I love being 24 and I feel i'm well prepared to go into my mid 20's and eventually late 20's with a great sense of appreciation for life and all the good things it has to offer!!

P.S. it boils down to this.. you can either DIE young or grow old.. i'd prefer to grow old thank you very much icon_smile.gif..

    I hope that helps

I honestly think most gay males go through a "quarter-life" crisis. Around the ages of 24-27, I've seen plenty guys freak out about getting older. Some actually were seriously, clinically, depressed. I wasn't depressed, however, there was a few months after my 25th birthday in which I honestly thought that there was nothing else I could accomplish. I had my degrees and my career situated; I was convinced that there was nothing else I had to offer.

    I'm all better now... yay!

You will be old when you want to be old. Period.
It's entirely your choice, not AARP's.
I celebrate every birthday (in fact the entire month) and think nothing of the number, save for the fact that I'm blessed to have enjoyed lots and lots and lots. But how "old" you are...up to you.

How mature you are...an entirely different matter. (And no, celebrating my birthday month is not a lack of maturity...much...okay, I'll give you that one...)icon_confused.gif

I just turned 32. The other day I found an old picture taken of me when I was 25 and it scared the fucking hell out of me...I looked older and fatter in it than I do today. So...all things told, I'm actually glad to be my 32-year-old self instead.

As for the music thing, the only thing that bugs me is when they re-make things. Kids these days have no sense of good music -- my poor little dumbass boyfriend (I say that affectionately, sweetums!) had the gall to say the Mary J. Blige version of U2's 'One' was better than theirs. Kids...

Nope. In fact, you're about a month older than my wee baby sister and five months older than my precious musically-retarded boyfriend. And I don't remember if you chimed in on my MJB vs. U2 Facebook thread, so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you've better musical taste than your whippersnapper peers.

...maybe in the future, Mary J. Blige will have an ORIGINAL song of her own, worth remaking, if her career lasts that long.... LOL!!!!
