Something from your day

Hey everyone. This is my first post. I was wondering if any of you wanted to share something from your day, significant or not. Something that sticks out in your mind. It could be as simple as a conversation you had with a stranger on the bus or the way the air felt when you walked outside. I just think these little glimpses into people's lives are interesting.

    Here is mine-

I was driving with my mom in the car. The subject of Heath ledger's death came up and she told me about how people from her work were talking about movies he'd been in. Brokeback Mountain came up and apparently some people made some disparaging comments about him and the movie on the issue of homosexuality. My mom proudly stated to everyone that I was gay and it shut all of them up. She was very proud of herself because, while she acepts me and is not ashamed at all, it was really the first time she had said it aloud to other people. She turned to me and told me how much she loved me. It put a huge smile on my face.

I was told (at last minute) that I need to give a product presentation in front of 50 people tommorrow. Now I have to rush preparing all the slide, and study my material.

By the Rand, I am so proud of your mom. She sound like a very brave lady. You are so lucky to have her as your mother.

Rand - good for you for having such a great mother.

Today is my Mommy's birthday! icon_biggrin.gif She would have been the big 50 had she lived. I usually take this day off but I came to work because we have a lunch meeting on Tuesdays and they buy us lunch at this nice restaurant so I came just for that... icon_redface.gif

The weather. Yesterdays high was in the 60's and it was a beautiful day. I took a long walk after work, and I saw a spider making web after 8:00pm. Todays weather is 19 degrees right now, windy and snow flurries.

I just love living in central Kansas!

I work in my boss's home office (large office addition). She has family in town to see their 95 year old mother through her final hours. It's very surreal here. I remember going to Big Bend N. P. with them in '01 and riding burros into Mexico, grandma included. Just a couple of years ago she was running errands for "old ladies" in their 70s. Tough as they come.

Still, I feel like working from my own home office instead.

Today it's minus 35 C, but with no wind. I'm going to shovel the driveway. I was going to do it yesterday, but the temperature with the windchill was minus 46 C.

Congratulations, Rand. After 24 years my parents still can't confront their homophobic, right-wing Christian friends and don't tell them they have a gay son. They've always been great to me and to anyone I've dated, but they can't take that next stop. It's nice to know there are some great parents out there like your mom.

Self-esteem wise I've been struggling a bit today and have spent the last two hours feeling a bit bleak.

My husband has just called and said a few positive things and I now feel like I can take on the world.icon_smile.gif

Rand !!!! GREAT POST !!!! CANNOT TOP WHAT YOUR MOM SAID TO YOU !!!! YOUR A FORTUNATE YOUNG MAN !!! Recently I went to visit an old couple in their 80's whose daughter was murdered recently. The poor old lady back at christmas said her "WHOLE CHRISTMAS WAS TURNED UPSIDE DOWN" then she pointed for me to look in the corner, and she had a small christmas tree hanging upside down !!!! tears were in her eyes !!! every several days I call just to chat and we talk about other things. Today I called again, they are such troopers, and gradually getting better. I cannot get them off my mind.

A guy on Facebook sent me some raunchy pics of himself. Later when I asked where he worked he told me the company's name. By coincidence, I know the ED and public relations staff very well. It made me wonder once again how people feel quite safe shooting pix of themselves over the Net and probably don't think of the possible consequences.

Rand, give your mom a big hug from me.

Today I'm meeting up with a new guy I met here on R.J. This will be a first time thing. He is a really hot, intelligent guy and I'm looking forward to it. I'm putting the top down on my Benz and heading over to a restaurant that is mutually convenient - between both our houses. Anyway, that is what I'm doing later today!

Oh and the weather here in Phoenix today is around 77 - perfect top-down weather!

Today I was dragged to my brother's wedding shower. The food was good but the drinks were incredibly weak (3 bloody maries and 5 sangrias and no buzz). I saw a lot of family that I haven't seen in years, which is always nice, and I met a lot of family to be. All in all it was a nice time, but became monotonous towards the end. If you've never been to one you basically eat then sit there while the bride and groom open present after present. Pretty boring.

This is the first day of my vacation!!!! No work!!!!
