The world is calling, where should I go?

I just gave notice at my apartment and found a four bedroom flat with one room mate (next door to Iguana! Woo Hoo!) and cut my living expenses IN HALF!

My goal is to be debt free by 40 (3 years) AND get back out in the world.
The question is... "where should I go?" Aside from a few continental trips, I want to take a three week vacation in late Summer/early Fall.

I've been to: France, Italy, Spain, Turkey, Greece, Egypt & Japan.

Trips I'm thinking of are: Indonesia/Australia (relax and scuba dive), Tanzania/Kenya (see the Serengeti and climb Mt. Kilimanjaro), China (See the Great Wall), Argentina/Chile/Peru (because I've never been to S. America), Jordan/Israel/Cyprus (just because).

I'm very adventurous, tend to travel alone and I prefer rural villages over big cities.
Does anyone have any suggestions or thoughts on the above places?

If you really want surprise, go to the airport and buy a ticket for the next international flight out. Really, I've had friends who have done this.

That sounds adventurous and fun. I might use that idea someday. icon_smile.gif

That sounds like lot of fun. Tanzania is cool, read an article in Islands Magazine it looked amazing.
You can also try going Amazon trailing from Peru to Brazil.

I personally have always wanted to go to Surinam. It's a small Dutch speaking country in South America next to French New Guinea.

Being debt free is a blessing and gives you lots of freedom. It will also helps you sleep well at night. For me I've been debt free now for two years. It's wonderful.

I tend to travel alone too.

    Indonesia is fantastic....Bali........Yogjakarta.......Art is everywhere.
Brazil is fantastic too......warm freindly sexy people and beautiful sights.
India is a dream...........unforgetable.........but in many places its crowded so if you don't like crowds, you won't like India.
    Vietnam....Laos and Cambodia......wow

    so many places...........TRAVEL!

Pretty, but I just watched a documentary on tidal waves. I think I'll just hang out and wait for a tornado.

I'm wondering if a 3 week trip to Australia/New Zealand and then Indonesia is reasonable... I need to do research. I think I'm leaning towards a scuba vacation... seeing Tank would be ICING on the vacation cake!!

i was going to suggest NZ, but i think your idea to start there, go to australia, and then hit indonesia (one of your original ideas) is FAR better

    Yay!! Confirmation is GREAT!

I was almost going to go back to the Mediterranean but I think somewhere new is highly in order. I pick up languages really quickly, I've been amazed at how few words I need to know when I smile and play puppy, plus it works really well for making friends! icon_biggrin.gif

Have been looking at airfare, if a good one comes up I'm pouncing! Have my credit card waiting and ready!

I'm so excited I could pee my pants!!

I WILL MOST DEFINITELY POST PICTURES!!!

It's not cheap, by any means, but I've stayed here twice, and the diving is awesome.

Maybe you can convince a certain Sydneysider to share a room with you and cut the costs in half icon_smile.gif

Hmmmm..........seriously - that is a lot of flying time in 3 weeks man. You could spend 3 weeks just in New Zealand! By the time I arrived in Australia, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne just flew by! I didn't have time to get to the Great Barrier Reef! Next trip.

But please remember the time change..........as I write this now, it's 1:20 pm Friday afternoon.....lose just about basically 2 days getting there from LA as it's a 11:30pm flight.

In Sydney - you have to do the Sydney Harbour Bridgeclimb! It's incredible.
