Friend of my mom's just got a ticket for $23 for not wearindenis seat belt. I thought we only did this when one was stopped for smother violation and got caught without wearing your seatbelt. That cop must be short on his ticket quota or the city needs the money.

It's the law in most places, if she wasn't wearing the belt then she does deserve it. It's there for a reason.

It's stupid really. If I want to risk my life while driving its my god damn right. Maybe I just want to feel the danger icon_rolleyes.gif

We don't care if you kill yourself, you not wearing a seat belt makes you and your car a danger to others if you happen to shoot through the windshield in the event of a collision icon_smile.gif That's why.

The fine here is $50. And I think the 2nd offence is $100. Governments are looking for any ways and means to bring in money because of financial shortfalls. They are giving speeding tickets for only 5 mph over the speed limit in town here because my nephew just got one. lol

many years ago I was pulled over on the GW Parkway late one night by a cop who was very attractive. He stood with his crotch right in my window. I was so afraid of a ticket for something. He gave me a verbal warning, since I was too stupid to realize what was going on. I could have had some cop dick and a memory to last the rest of my life!

I got just a warning once for speeding because it was my birthday and he didn't want to spoil my birthday. He was cute, too, and a nice cop. icon_smile.gif

it's still the rule here in wv that you can't be pulled over just for not wearing your seat belt. last month my niece was pulled over in ohio just for her seat belt and it was $90

    $23 is cheap.

But I say, let the fools drive without seat belts. That's a pretty nice skimmer on our gene pool.

I used to hate the seatbelt law 'till I befriended a medic and learned what they have to go through when someone crashes without wearing it. Been told it's pretty gruesome.

I stopped to help a guy who'd been thrown from an overturned truck, and did CPR on him 'till the chopper arrived. The sad part is I rounded the corner just as his truck was in its last flip and saw it throw him out the window, 100 ft away. There was barely enough skin on his mouth to do CPR. Hamburger meat doesn't hold a candle to that; and the stories told to my by the medic are even more gruesome. At least this kid (19 yo) survived.

In some states not only do you get in trouble for not wearing your seatbelt but also passengers need to have their seatbelts on as well otherwise the driver gets fined. If you have ever taken a cab recently have you noticed how they politely tell you to put on your seatbelt?

Click it or ticket. It's really simple.

Caslon....bummer on missing out on some good old cop loving.

    "Is there a problem, officer?"

"You were speeding. I'm gonna have to give you a ticket."

"Is there anyway I can avoid getting a ticket, officer?"

and that's when the fun begins. icon_razz.gif

$23? That's 3 more dollars than California. However, any tickets following are $50 bucks. I guess it's a small price to pay for saving a life. icon_idea.gif

Just last week, an area high school teen was killed when he and his buddy were speeding in separate trucks and attempting to pass a car. They clipped each other and spun and rolled off the road. It turns out that the teen who was killed not only didn't wear his seatbelt, but he had it cut out!! I really can't sympathize with that amount of ignorance.

and the day after he was killed, more classmates were involved in another wreck near the school.

All in all, $23 is pretty cheap when compared to the cost of a funeral.
