So here it is in a nutshell.
I met this guy the other day. He really is the greatest thing. Handsome, kind, intelligent, great sense of humor, and genuine.
Well the other night a group friends (myself and this guy included) decided we all wanted to embrace the warm weather and go and lay out under the stars.
We were all having a great time. We began discussing our favorite food, and he chimed in and said, "You know? One of my favorite things is this French candy I once had. It was a candy made of an orange peel...I had it when I visited France, and I've never had it nor found it again. I wish I could somehow find it." This was an automatic lightbulb in my head. I was going to make this candy for him.... I searched online, and found a recipe for "Orangettes" a candy that consists of caramalized orange peels dipped in chocolate. It sounded really weird (not to mention extremely unhealthy) but I decided to make a test batch... (took like 2 hours)....It.....was....DELICIOUS. I was so excited to make an actual batch for him.....so again, I carefully peeled the oranges, sliced, boiled, and boiled....and waited...etc. Well I finally got to the caramalizing process and I walked away...got distracted here on RJ....next thing I know I go to the kitchen and it's BURNING....AHHH!!!...I tried to save it....but it was far to gone...... *epic fail*
So now here I am.....with burnt orange peels in my kitchen, burns on my fingers from trying to save it, and alas.......no more oranges... icon_sad.gif
I need advice.....should I go to the store and try again?
or am I trying to hard? Should I just let it go?
Advice advice, S'il tu plaƮt (please)
    Thanks so much!

    UPDATE!!

AHHHH! Tonight= the best night ever!
I brought him the goods and first he gave me this really confused look like, "Where in the world did you get this?" ..I kinda just said, "Uhm..I made this for you."
I swear, I've never seen such an odd reaction. He smiled and then ran around the field we were on, and then came back and gave me a hug? However, his reaction was adorable. He smiled and said, "Thank you that was so kind of you." Then we talked for hours as we laid on this field under the stars, while he quietly munched.
You know that feeling you have in the pit of your stomach, when attraction begins? My stomach is FULL of it. Whoo!

Haha advice for YOU guys. To get to a mans heart..you have to go through his stomach first.

    Yes, you are sweet.
    Try making the recipe again.
If he doesn't appreciate it, then, smother him with a pillow.

"If at first you don't succeed, do something different before fucking up again and making yourself look like an idiot." icon_razz.gif
In other words, stay off RJ and don't let it burn next time.

Yeah.. unsupervised sugar on the stove ain't never a good idea, I know from experience as well. At any rate, that's the frickin' sweetest, too bad he can't accidentally find out you mutilated your fingers trying to make candy for him lol, I'm quite sure you'd get some brownie points.

Yeah, I will keep this in mind....but to be honest it was only a matter of maybe 20 seconds? I guess I have to watch it like a hawk, and maybe some "french candy points" rather than "brownie points"
    haha
    again, thanks.

Yeah, well it ain't boilin' water for sure, 20 seconds is a killer lol. When I do eat icecream on rare occasion, I always make my own chocolate sauce which is..terrible for you, extremely..but that's where I found myself with screwed up sugar and all it took was a quick trip to take a leak lol.

    Nice...
It seems the best is always the worst for you?
    Chocolate.
    Fatty foods.
    Unprotected sex.
Drugs (not for me, but in general)
    haha....um, did I mention chocolate?
    etc

What a great thing to do! I think that was extremely sweet. However, if you do try again - don't get distracted so this next batch will be the best. Remember the 3rd time is the charm! icon_smile.gif

Try again. The first time through a recipe is ALWAYS a dry run for me and a learning experience. I NEV:ER try out a new recipe "in production".

In the mean time, you can always run to Godiva and pick up some chocolate covered orange peel, or hit Trader Joes for some of their yummy chocolate orange jelly candies.

Yes, start again. You cannot save the peels once they are burnt.

Ignore Caslon, he's just as bitter as those burnt peels because nobody has ever done something this sweet for him. J/K Cas. You know's i lurves you!

Anywhoo. Also consider video taping your adventure in the kitchen so that he REALLY knows how much you dig him. It shows just how much you dig him so that he will dig you that much more in other rooms of the house. icon_wink.gif

BTW, post video here. We can haz orangettes?
