The good news about fighting visceral fat is that it seems to be uniquely vulnerable to exercise. “Exercise disproportionately targets visceral fat,” says Gary R. Hunter, a professor of human studies at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Not at all. I did mange to lose 20 pounds so far this year. I'm a nursing student who took care of patients that have tons of health issues because of their obesity. Big drain on our healthcare system as well.

    I'll continue the trend....

There was this 30 something women sitting in SBux. I'd estimate at least in the high 200's maybe low 300lb range .... and god love me, fat people have every right to exist.

But she was wearing a teenagers T-shirt with a bare mid-drift, about 2 sizes too small with "no one puts baby in a corner" in rind-stones on it.

Temptation to walk over and say..... I'm surprised baby fits in the corner... was sooooo much

I agree with you completely. I used to manage a pharmacy and sometimes I would start getting really depressed when a lot of my over weight customers would come in to get their prescriptions. The bigger they were, the more prescriptions they would have. As an almost former fattie myself (I still have a couple of inches to lose from my waistline) I understood what they were going through, but I was one of those people who decided to do something about it. I went from getting $400 a month in prescriptions to nothing in just 4 months. That was after insurance paid and Imagine my delight with having an extra $400 a month in my pocket.

These people have to want to lose weight and make that decision on their own and a lot of them are lacking in self confidence and do not have the motivation or know how to get started. In my case i got lucky because a new gym opened up just down the street from my store and they gave me a complementary one year membership along with 5 free personal training sessions.

I remember when I went to grade school and the teachers required us to be physically active during recess and in middle and high school physical education was required of all students unless you were physically unable. Now days it is no longer a requirement and I think it probably should be.

I have a very good friend who is in a wheelchair because he was shot in a holdup at the bank he worked in. He still keeps his body in great shape and he has the greatest set of abs I ever saw. His whole upper body is awesome and I have no idea what he does with his legs but they are not toothpicks like you would expect. I figure if he can keep his body in that great of shape then anyone should be able to.

ok I will stop now as I will keep on going on the subject. So how about we go out and educate some of these people.

Don't focus on weight, focus on getting in shape, reshaping your body, building muscle whatever you want to call it. Since muscle weighs more than fat you can be trimmer and fitter looking at 190 than you are at 170 and folks would never believe you weighed that much.

Your thread is unseemly, lacks any constructive purpose and is in bad taste. That is all ^_^.

Start playing "punch fatty." When you see a fat person, say "punch fatty" and hit your friend in the arm.

We do it with tweekers in Reno, sometimes your arm gets quite sore icon_smile.gif

People have different reasons why they are overweight, but letting go of yourself is never the answer.

yeah but making humor out of it and looking down on them like shit because you spen 30 hours a week in a gym is not the answer either.

No I am not looking down on anyone. I am saying look what BEING fat will DO TO YOU! I am also saying it's preventable. I do not have a gym membership. I walk and jog and do a few free weights. I work out 1.25 hours a day...5 days out of the week. Do the math! I eat right, read a
    lot....

I am just pointing out the horrors that people go through being over weight. Especially, all the young people. I felt that bringing it to everyone's attention might serve as a reminder...do watch your weight!!

I have seen so many just give up and it really had nothing to do with thyroid...everything to do with eating cookie dough and ice cream.

Yes...I am blunt...to bad. That's how you have to be if your in boot camp mentality!!

Your not fat silly...these people can't walk because they are so big. I asked one today how they felt when standing in the check out line. I had my tank top on and gym shorts....Just because I like the easy look......

Anyway, She told me that it was difficult for her to have will power to stop eating donuts and cookies and chips. She admitted it to my face.
