Its a Really good movie, I recommend it to anyone gay/ straight / bi or in/out.
I remember i was at a sorority with friends watching it and a small group of girls walked in during the sex seen at the hotel. HAHAHAH they thought we were watching porn. The movie really moved me, very emotional, and made me tear up.

I thought the acting was really amateurish and the story trite.

Yeah, a great flick, the kind that opens minds, changes thinking, contributes to social change.

    I'm with Christian16 - it's a good film:but watch Shelter!

So here's for the rest of us: what are your top 5 or so gay-themed films?

    in random order:

    Alive and Kicking

    Trick
    Torchsong Trilogy
    Shelter

I watched it a few years ago and thought it was awesome. I recently started watching it again and I couldn't because it seemed really hokey. I think the first time I saw it I was just overwhelmed with it being like the second gay movie I ever saw.... *Spoiler below*

***SPOILER: The first and only I've seen that actually has a happy ending mind you***

I still think the adult actors make that movie. The mother/son scene is searing.

God he just said it was a moving film not a work of art! There's no need to be a jerk about it. This is just a 'feel good' movie...

I'm with you on this one ground- it was the only gay movie I had watched where someone doesn't die of aids..... icon_neutral.gif

I'm bursting with energy! So this is the perfect time to hit the gym! Take care guys!

I first watch Latter Days years ago, and I've watched it multiple times since then. While not a magnificent work of art, it definitely is a good movie. There is a lot of background stuff that is fun to notice on subsequent watches. As a gay movie, it ranks way up there (with Shelter of course!). I've watched tons of gay movies via netflix, and a lot are really bad. The story line is a bit convenient, and a little short, but overall, it's an amazingly fun, touching movie. And one of my favs!

Thought it was a very good movie. Watched on Netflix and went out and bought it. Don't usually buy then but good to watch over again. Grt bed scene in the hotel room.

It was cute but let's face it, not realistic at all. The mormon boy and the slutty boy will date and be in love for a while then because of the dependancy that the mormon boy would have for the other one it would eventually drive a wedge in their relationship, there would also be animosity on the side of the mormon boy for having lost his family and community by being with the other one. They don;t live hapily ever after and never could with all those preasures.

just watched it now on youtube to make my own opinion of it. At first I thought it was appalling but the last quarter of the film isn't bad and there are some good scenes.

Me too...really sad. Isnt it true both guys are actually straight? That sex scene and all the kissing must have been really difficult for them

Whether or not the storyline was realistic or not (and who is to say that it isn't?), it definitely gets across the struggles that people have with who they are, and who they feel others want them to be. This movie was great. icon_biggrin.gif

Well after comparing apples to apples the movie SHELTER had a more realistic theme and the acting was much better, then LATTER DAYS unrealistic attempt to make a slut and an ultra-conservative fall in love and live happily ever after!!
