If you feel like shopping, make sure you check out Lenox Square Mall or Phipps Plaza. I go there every time I visit just because they have stores I don't usually go to. They have everything from Saks 5th Avenue and Louis Vuitton, to Macy's and Nike

I love art museums, I need to check out Atlanta's next time I'm there

    Have Fun!

Sadly not a lot of cultural things. Atlanta's been terrible with keeping historical buildings, etc. But Dali's a good bet. There's not much you'd like Downtown most likely, unless you check out the Aquarium. Midtown's a good bet to peruse. I'd suggest these two sites closer to your arrival:

Skip Atlanta and go to Savana instead.

other than the World of Coca-Cola and the GA Aquarium, there really isn't a lot to do there, other than eat, shop, and sit in traffic

Oh wow, I done the GA Aquarium before. I just hope the nightlife is way better than Jacksonville, it's all I have being in Valdosta.

There's also a Kangaroo farm way north of Atlanta, and there are a ton of clubs. Though the 24 hour one (Backstreet) has been long gone.

Uh, yes, Atlanta's nightlife is light years ahead of this bible city. That said though, it is slowly evolving.

written like someone who doesn't really know what they're talking about :-(

lived in atlanta 23 years... there's a ton to do! august is hot and humid but you can still have lots of fun.

    - hike to top of stone mountain at dusk
    - a concert at chastain ampitheatre... the summer concert series is usually great!
    - georgia aquarium
    - the botanical garden at piedmont park
    - the high museum (as you planned!)
    - a braves game
    - centennial olympic park
    - the atlanta zoo.... world class; check out the cyclorama civil war museum while there
    - shop at lenox square
    - run a running trail near the chattahoochee river
    - head north to lake lanier (or another lake) for a day trip/picnic
    - chill in piedmont park
    - the atlanta history center in buckhead
    - eat at tons of great restaurants (check out http://www.atlantamagazine.com/ dining guide for lots of choices)

more stuff (some mentioned above) http://www.atlanta.net/50fun/completelist.asp

for another poster... it's savannah, not savana. savannah is quaint, charming and OK near the historic city center and down by the river, but it's kinda boring.... too small.

Well, I'm hardly ever in Atlanta, it is a speed bump on my way back home to Nashville everytime. That's just me though.

Atlanta is filled with culture, maybe its not displayed in festivals in what not but its definitely there.

Find culture in food; go out and eat at F.R.O.G.S., or Vortex. Hell just go to Piedmont and people watch especially on a Sunday watching all the singles stare at their dream guys and never make a move. People watching in Atlanta is guaranteed to be hilarious.
