Hey there! I am going to Hungary for a year- enrolled into LLM in Human Rights at Central European Uni. Am in a committed monogamous relationship, and am looking at making friends with some people from Budapest...

Do drop me a line if you'd like to chat!

budapest is amazing! its such a beautiful city, i've been there twice and loved every second of it. not the easiest language to decipher though lol. one of the places i really liked was elisabeth island right in the middle of the danube. you won't regret going to that part of europe, its very accessable to travel around from too. have a great time!

Enjoy learning the language! Hungarian is tough because it's not related to other languages in Europe (except distantly related to Estonian and Finnish).

Absolutely LOVE Budapest, probably my favourite city in the world.

It's true the language isn't what you'd call accessible, but I managed to get by in either English or broken German.

most folks under 40 in budapest will speak some english. any older and you're better off knowing german. dont try russian with them. they may know it, but dont want to speak it. again, you'll be fine with english, but if you try and learn hungarian they will love you 10 fold for it since no foreigners make the effort to learn it. outside of budapest, the rate of english speakers drops significantly
