Rectal Exam at Doctor

  • May 13, 2010 5:07 AM GMT
    Hey guys,

I'm new to these forums but I joined because I have a pressing issue. I'm 23 and I recently was admitted to a pharmacy school. However, one of the stipulations before attending is that I must submit to a full physical. On the school's physical form there is mention of a rectal/prostate exam. First of all, why does a 23 year old need a prostate exam? What is up with this school? And second of all, have any of you had a rectal exam? The reason I'm just sort of worried about it is because I bottom on occasion and I'm worried it will be momentarily embarrassing when the doctor sticks his finger up there to find that my sphincter is more relaxed than the average man icon_lol.gif . Anyway, let me know your thoughts!

If it's required for the school, I'm sure your ass won't be the loosest one the physician has ever felt.

It is a quick test to check your prostate to see if it is enlarged.

Go to a gay doctor - he won't be surprised at how relaxed you are at taking a finger up the ass icon_biggrin.gif

It's been a standard exam for males over 40 in a complete annual physical and not a problem. Dr will not have a gauge on ur manhole that says someone's been in here before me, so don't worry. lol Dr justs goes in with finger and feels around the prostrate to check it's size and for any growths.
It's a quick in and done thing.
Unless ur HOT and he's less then str8, that is. lol Your a bottom,it shouldn't b new to u. Imagine how all the str8's feel when having it done. lol

Try to take a good dump before the exam...and wash your ass. You dont want the dr mushing about with all your turds up there.

A DRE (digital rectal exam) is frequently done during complete physicals, even at your young age. The US Army began giving me annual DREs when I was just 20. Don't be surprised if the doctor also tells you to "bend and spread 'em" so he can check for hemorrhoids, too, as well as a "cough test" for hernia.

We also had these last 2 exams in our Army group physicals, with all of us stark naked together, watching the other guys get checked in turn. Or in some cases they had us in a straight line, and we all bent over and spread our cheeks at once, like a mass mooning, while the doctor went down the line. At least the DRE was done privately in a closed room.

Your balls might also be given a palpation, to check for testicular cancer. Don't worry about getting an erection during it and the DRE -- it's natural and fairly common, and the doctor will have seen this happen many times. He or she (yes, I've had this stuff done to me by a female doctor on occasion) will not think you're gay if you get hard, so relax and enjoy it. Have fun! icon_wink.gif

There's really nothing to worry about (I'd be more concerned with why your school requires it)

The test isn't as awkward as it seems. You just lie on your side or bend over, a doctor uses a glove with lube and that's it. It only takes 30 seconds or so. The doctor won't be able to tell you've bottomed... besides, who cares? He's most likely had sex too (gay or straight)... never be ashamed of who you are.

Personally, I don't think getting an erection from the exam is probable.

I've had them at my annual physical for the past couple of years. After my doc did it the first time I said "Is that it? No cuddling?".

Like Red, I too had a DRE entering and leaving the military. It's a bit uncomfortable because it's someone you don't know, but it's not as bad as you might think.

Things to make it a bit easier, don't bottom a few days before and as Caslon said - ensure you have a decent bowel movement and wash up after and before your visit the doctor.

But realize, this doctor will have done this many, MANY times and has seen it all, so don't think you are going to surprise him with a little poo or a relaxed sphincter. Besides, straight guys like anal play too!

Get over it - it comes with getting older - even at your age. At least you don't need a pelvic exam..........................kinda puts things into perspective.

Hey mate, med student here. Dont stress! Its all good. Let us know when u've had it- bet its an anticlimax. I had my balls groped by a doctor to join the navy before med school- that felt violating. I've also had plenty of DREs myself. Know both sides of it. The most troubling part is why your school needs it. At the very least you'll be able to sympathise with patients who come get meds from you in future years, knowing how confrontational the doctors office can be. By the way, no preparation is needed. We expect to find faecal matter on the glove.

My only advice is listen to the doctors instructions, dont hop on the examination bench on all fours! Its not performed doggy style!

I went to a dermatologist to have a skin tag removed from my arm pit. He checked my prostate before he even asked me why I was there to see him.

I thought that was odd, but figured he knew what he was doing. After all, he's the doctor, right?

About a month later, I was hanging at a local gay watering hole during happy hour and guess who walked into the bar.

    Yep, Dr. Finger Bang, himself.

He smiled at me. I gave him the Medusa stare. He left the bar w/o buying a drink; probably was a good move on his part.

I would be more concerned if your doctor doesnt know you are gay and that you bottom. it is an important part of your medical history

I prefer ARM, Analog Rectal Exam

That is so 90s. And the probe was two orders of magnitude bigger back then.

LOL. I've had that too. Went to the doctor for a common cold and kept getting asked about my sexual practices, plus a physical exam with too much focus on certain areas.

It's embarrassing, but in a strange way, it can be a compliment too (though, that doesn't make him less of a perv).

Your doctor will have had his finger up more assholes than he (or she) will care to remember.

Sticking his finger up random assholes is probably not the favorite part of his job; he just wants to get his finger in there, check your prostate and get out as quickly as possible.

In fact, he probably wants to get the whole thing over just as quickly as you do. He will not be judging you in anyway so be a man, bend over and take it like the bottom bitch that you are.

And don't try to make any stupid jokes to lighten the atmosphere; he's heard them all a million times before and they won't be any funnier coming from you.

By the way, be thankful you're not a woman. They have to go through annual examinations that entail far more indignities than a quick finger up the pooper.

I'm 22 and I've already had multiple visits to Dr. Longfinger. Being in the medical field you should understand there are a multitude of reasons a person of any age could experience complications within that area of the body.

I understand your paranoia in disclosing that information, or it being assumed. I never want a doctors personal opinion of me to affect his medical action.

But I really think you're sweating bullets over nothing here. I mean dude.. the doctor making an offhanded comment about how loose you are is the worst that's going to happen. And he's probably going to be a 40s-50s something straight guy with kids your age so.. I REALLY doubt he'll see you in that light.
