I think we should strongly encourage the board of Realjock to let us vote on a candidate(s) for "RealJock 2008 (and 09, etc). There can be nominations of other Realjockers by those of us on this site and finalists to be voted on based on a set of critera...

    Those could include:

1)Dedication to fitness: Clearly someone who understands and is dedicated (or becoming more so) to a fitness lifestyle

2)Interest in sports: This item might be irritating to some, but a "jock" is someone who is interested in or participates in sports related activities

3)Grounded nature: Background on the guy as someone who can be a role model to others.. or at least have a job and a lifestyle that most here would appreciate.

4)Dedicated to self improvement: I think any nominees
don't have to be greek gods.. they can be average dudes who are here to improve and are dedicated to making progress.

    Thoughts? Good idea (or not)?

Yeah, I am not in favor of competitions, except with yourself...showing your own improvement. What's the point of comparing one person to another, other than to please one person and hurt a whole bunch of others. I think we are all "Realjock 2008" for trying.

But I would give it to Terra since he asked first.

How about every month take all the man of the days and vote for man of the month...then at the end of the year they can vote on each man of the month to get the man of the year.

    This should be fun.

Retroactively, cowboyupnorth for Mr. January 2008.

I'll go with GuysGuyAtl for Mr. February 2008...icon_wink.gif

If my husband is looking over my shoulder, my endorsement of these candidates in no way reflects negatively on the health of our relationship.

    To possibly answer GuysGuyAtl:
I can't speak for RJ (cuz I don't work for them), although I have worked for a few other gay social sites in the past.
What I've learned is that featuring members who are attractive and w/ engaging profiles is all part of the marketing of the site (duh, I'm sure most could figure that out...). It draws people in and also for the competitive types, gives them something to shoot for.
Ultimately though, it all usually came down to the decision of people moderating the site (me and whoever else I worked w/).
When I did work like that some days I would be in a rush so I wouldn't look so hard. Also, some days I would be late getting to it and it wouldn't happen till late in the afternoon or even the next day in some instances.

Am I in high school again? I feel like I should be seeing a list for best dressed and most likely to succeed.

I'm with Caslon on this one--what's the point of this again?

    HAHA!
That gave me a good idea. What if we did superlatives on here (like in HS) and had different categories.
    What wold the categories be?
Who would be up for them?

just hang em on my bedpost with your underwear you sexy hunk he he

Hmmm two minds over this one I think it can be good but some one all ways ends up being a smart arse and doing an anti thread and it can get insulting.

I like Guysguy idea and maybe we could persuade RJ to do a 2009 calendar he he with the money going to Charity as they all own our profile piccys anyway!

I'm here to take my victory speech.

"I personally believe the U.S. Americans are unable to do so because, uh, some, uh...people out there in our nation don't have maps, and, uh, I believe that our education like such as South Africa and, uh, the Iraq everywhere like, such as and...I believe that they should, our education over here in the U.S. should help the U.S., err, uh, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries, so we will be able to build up our future for our...

I always chuckle at how the idea on a post can get changed during a thread.

My point would be to recognize someone who had achieved real results based on their fitness, interests and their approach to life in general...
An "egoless" approach and some deserved recognition.

Well, my vote goes to Caslon for his willingness and determination to fight his illness and not giving up... I mean just read his profile guys...you don't get to see that kind of desire to live too often, especialy at that age...

I think it's a winner of an idea...we need to have a king...someone we can follow into sexy battle with our loin clothes on and our sweaty pecs heaving, gasping for air after wreslting with each other, covered in olive oil (or canola oil, but not regular vegetable oil, it's too high in sat fat).

And then we'll all sit around after our hot sexy battle and drink sexy cocktails out of mugs and sing drinking songs...and our King will stand up and say "FREE DRINKS AND HANDJOBS FOR ALL MY MEN!"

And we'll all cheer, cause he's such a good, hot king.
