I suggest this thread be re-directed to comforting me for the second-degree burns I suffered on my left hand last Friday when I was involved in a water heater gas explosion icon_sad.gif

Nice. icon_smile.gif I'll put on a lab coat before I come over. One of those big black medical bags would be a nice addition for the ensemble too.

I think a percentage of the population will always believe in a god. Right now in the US a majority believe, but the number is slipping steadily.

It's no wonder, with adherents being subjected to stupid questions like this.

I was raised Roman Catholic... then left the Church and all it stood for as I came to accept who I was and announced myself as an atheist. Then I became an agnostic. One day I came across a book called "Conversations With God" written by someone who strayed from religion and all it stood for just like I did. He went through alot of shit in his life and something told me after skimming a few pages to buy the book. That book changed my perception.

Yes now I believe there is a God. But it's not the God of any religion. The God I believe in is so much bigger than any religion could ever hope to be. This God is loving, accepting, patient ,and understanding..... everything religion is not.

And no- hell does not exist. Save for what people have created this world to be. Just my two cents.

My spiritual beliefs exactly. The sad thing is that those who create "hell" and try to bring others with them on their misery trip.

God... " okay who wired the elevator buttons backwards again. I need an elevator archangel now"

Personaly I dont think a belief in God is stupid.. I do how ever wonder about those who have to have organized religion tell them whats right and wrong.

" Oh lord.. bless this thy holy hand grenade. that with it thou might blowest thy enemys into Tiny bits...

and the lord dith grin, and the people did feast upon, oranges, lambs. fruit baskets, oragutangs and....

    skip a bit brother"

"How can a loving God send people to hell?"

Trying to answer this question was the beginning of the end of my faith in Christianity and religion//god(s) all together. It got me asking questions... questioning my religion. Until that fateful day when I decided to go against the unwritten rule in Catholicism--I decided to actually read the Bible.

After reading the Bible, I finally realized that it was not the work of (or inspired by) an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving deity; it was the work of disgruntled Middle-Eastern men who died thousands of years ago.

There's a saying... I can't remember it entirely or accurately, but it goes something like this: "What's more probable, a man who came back to life after dying turns out to be a god, or a bunch of Middle-Eastern men lied?"

Are you a pantheist? Deist? I could see the arguements for both... much more than the arguements for a personal god.

    Lovely website.

While I didn't see any gay-bashing, I hope our friend barefootdude is a virgin:

    Is premarital sex wrong?
Should we live boring lives of abstinence?

Q: "Is premarital sex wrong? Why are all the things that are fun and exciting wrong according to you christians? Why would a God who loved say that you can not do things that are fun?"

our A: Consider this, is driving a car wrong? No. Is driving a car for an 13-year-old wrong? Yes. It's fun and exciting for the 13-year-old, but it puts his life and other lives in jeopardy.

Is sex, which is fun, between a husband and wife wrong? No. Is sex wrong if it's with someone else's spouse? Yes. It may be fun and exciting, but it often brings tremendous heartache to that person's spouse and the children involved.
