OK, I appreciate the compliment, but these type of emails really annoy me. Ignorance of basic English grammar and spelling is a HUGE TURN OFF. Call me old fashioned, an academic snob, whatever, but mother of god, at least use the damn SPELL checker, a few punctuation marks and at least ONE complete sentence. icon_evil.gif

    Now I feel better.

    PEACE

I agree. I hate when people don't spell out "you" and the just put "u". Or "r" for "are." Just spell the short word!

On some of the other forums I use, TXT Talk is against the rules and you get banned. Yay for that idea.

    Illiteracy is rampant.

The schools have become defocused in trying to accommodate to many special interests, rather than getting everyone the 3r's.

We've become way to accepting of incompetence.

OK, chuckystud, after calling people out on spelling (the "your"/"you're" debacle) I hope you're going to tell people that you intentionally misspelled "too"

Well, typos are one thing, 1969, but systematic misspellings and awful sentences...that's another thing, right?icon_razz.gif

fastprof, you're right. And I'm right behind all the rest of you that hate the "dumbing down" writing style. I love the idea of banning "TXT talk", by the way. But it can get subjective, I imagine. Because this site has global users, however, I try to be a little patient. So basically if I see bad grammar, I'll first assume the guy is not a native English speaker. (unfortunately I'm wrong sooooo many times...)

One of my pet peeves (and sorry, I've seen it in these threads many times), is writing "prolly" instead of "probably". Jeez, it's just two extra letters to make an actual word. icon_razz.gif

    Adopt a period.
Also, insert a comma after the parenthetical phrase.

Depends if you use the older or newer grammar rules. The newer rules allow fewer commas.

Whatever rules, OW is right, you need the comma after that phrase.

AMEN! Please, learn HOW to articulate properly and type/spell! Your computer SHOULD at least have spell check if YOU don't!

Such a HUGE turn off! It's like trying to decipher hieroglyphics and shit!
