Yes ladies and gentleman, yet another thing we have on offer here in SA to get your mind off the World Cup.

Liewe mensdom ja nee dit is lekker zef! Although ZEF is quite a South African word - wonder if people will truly understand the impact behind the meaning?

Anyway, look at the vids, those explain zef in its fullest form...

Grote Griet, I grew up Afrikaans in South Africa until the age of 25 and still visit my family every year and I don't know what zef means. Is this some new slang I missed?

According to Die Antwoord's Wikepedia entry ZEF can be defined as: "a South African slang term which basically decribes a unique, indescribable South African style." Dis anderkant die treinspoor musiek in dat niemand sal erken hulle luister daarna nie maar as Yolandi Vi$$er begin met: "ai ai ai I am a butterfly, I need your protection, be my samurai" dan sing jy saam!

Die Antwoord has just been signed to Interscope Records in the States and will be performing in New York on 24 July and in LA on 17 July. I'm checking them out on 18 June in Pretoria Hatfield.

I posted a link to the Jack Parow video in another forum post yesterday but as he is the true original king of ZEF music I will post it again. Jack Parow bly maar een maal cooler as die Ninja! Aan al die SA buddies op RJ wat pomp julle?

LOL yes, it basically means "extremely common", usually referring to white or trailer trash behaviour primarily.
