Southbeach deleting topics when the posts are ones he doesn't like. Re: the topic about Israel's supposedly impending bankruptcy.

The SAME Southbeach that was booted and had his 'friends' (or sock-puppets) claim that his freedom of speech was denied and poof, he's back.
Now just imagine what this site and freedom of speech would be like if Southbeach was admin. icon_lol.gif

southbeach> they ignored it and continued on with their little private war in the Israel/Bankruptcy thread.

While it is true that tokugawa tends to be unable to discuss the topic in that topic (e.g. in a topic about Israel he was talking about Iran and in a topic about Iran he was talking about Israel), the above statement isn't accurate. I took my post to the new topic southbeach had created (note that tokugawa characteristically avoids that) and then reposted the last on-topic post to get that thread back on topic.

Evidently tokugawa continued with his off-topic posts, but regardless I don't see why the topic is better deleted than drifted.

Well really, SB, why not just turn off your TV and news feed from the far right and voila, happy SB and no more spamming the boards with endless hand-wringing topics.

By the way, you're wanted on one of those icky you're-so-excited topics about medicare failing. Some want to know what you'd like to see happen to those people dependent on it. Tent hospitals in open fields? Euthanasia clinics? icon_rolleyes.gif

southbeach1500 saidYou know, the title of this topic is just plain wrong on so many levels:

Southbeach deleting topics when the posts are ones he doesn't like.

    1) It sounds as if I am hacking into the RJ system and deleting topics that weren't started by me.

    2) It also sounds like I have deleted more than one topic. I have not.

    3) It also sounds like whenever I don't like what someone says in a topic, I delete the topic. I haven't done that either.

But besides those 3 little points, the headline / title of this topic is correct I suppose... icon_rolleyes.gif

Sway: The Irresistible Pull of Irrational Behavior

" ... Anyway, one of the most interesting parts of the book is the most reassuring. Research reveals that groups often make better decisions if there's a "blocker" or "dissenter" present--even if that person dissents for the wrong reasons. The authors describe a classic experiment in which the test subjects are led to believe they are being tested for their visual skills--three lines of different lengths are to be matched to a fourth line. The differences in line length are very obvious, so there is plainly only one correct answer. If you put the real subject in a room with several actors who are pretending to be test subjects but who have actually been instructed to give a manifestly wrong answer, most subjects in the experiment will behave in a compltely irrational manner, agreeing with the other "subjects" that lines that are obviously different are exactly the same. But if an actor playing "blocker" is added to the mix and points out that the group is wrong, the subject feels free to disagree and usually makes the right choice. This is true even if the "blocker" makes a different "wrong" choice by picking two other lines of plainly different lengths. ..."

Some of the other neighbours came on here at our invite once and saw your old posts about this. They not only disagreed with you Mr C but had some choice words for you we've not bothering repeating. icon_wink.gif

Say, remember when we almost left not long ago, because someone said we were starting to sound like someone else on RJ? Guess who they said we were starting to sound like?

I encourage and appreciate views that are differing and event contrary to mine when they are presented in a civil and respectful manner without pointed put downs and other ad hominem dimensions.

The particular voice from the "other side" has not yet realized that key differentiator between a community member who is respected and even (Gasp!) admired for his courage to take opposing and unpopular intelligent viewpoints. It's when the generalized, ad hominem put downs enter the member's response that my respect for him as member contributing to community becomes undermined by his own words. Ready, Fire, Aim...right in his own foot.

I sure do hope that the member in question can take this insight as constructive criticism and not take this as just more ad hominem against him. The role of the "victim" does not suit him well, nor is it for a moment believable or palatable. This community member needs to see sincere change in how other members are treated before I will tone down the burning light of truth on what have been infected and rotting verbal vomit.

    Agreed, guys.
I'm glad SB was reinstated and continues to post his right-wing propaganda.
I don't mind his posts at all.
They're usually so lame and easy to expose as total bs.
And they often make me laugh.

    Free speech for ALL.

My only criticism of SB's posts is his continued dishonesty about supposedly being an "independent" when it's blatantly obvious he's a right-wing partisan.

IF Southbeach were the person he claims to be, we might all have a chance to learn from his perspective.

But I have nothing to learn from a FAKE: who claims to be a working business/entrepreneur and yet has time for his volume of posts daily.

And the few times I've read his mention of employment, the details change.

I don't listen to public policy advice from SB for the same reason I don't listen to the out-of-shape, know-it-alls at the gym.
