A French study finds that people who drink moderate amounts of beer have lower stress, better health indicators and are slimmer than other groups. The reason appears to be their overall lifestyle, not the alcohol content itself.

[Boris Hansel of the Hospital of Pitie-Salpetriere in Paris] said the key findings was that moderate alcohol drinking was a very good indicator of "optimal social status" and this may be a key reason for better health in this group.

And here I thought optimal social status was associated with a martini, while beer is associated with living in a trailer park. I wonder if this study would give the same results in the US?
