Ok guys..for real..I couldn't care one way or the other but I have never seen a post on here about any of the RIDICULOUS lyrics that rap is made up of...I mean...does anyone actually listen to the lyrics of this crap they come out with now? And I'm pretty sure that auto-tune was made popular in the rap genre. And by popular, I mean its in EVERY song I hear on the radio.

So really...what's the difference between Ke$ha and every other no-talent half-wit that gets a song on the radio nowadays?

    Discuss.

The songs she writes are really, really catchy. I don't think she's an exceptionally talented artist, but she can write a good melody. I'll give her that.

Very much agreed azureskyy20. I have heard some lyrics in rap that, for the life of me, are just flippin rediculous. Yeah, yeah, call me old fashioned for not being a big fan of rap these days be give me a fuckn break.

To name a song off the top of my head:
    Lil' Jon- Snap Yo Fingers

I am kind of confused by this topic...is this more about hip hop bashing or more about ke$ha bashing?

you cant even begin to say that ke$ha is a hiphop artist. she is a pop star and an awful one at that. she is one person who when she is on the radio, i instantly change the channel. sucks at life.

having said that, you also cant hate on her too hard because she is out there grinding just like everyone else. and at least she (i think) writes her own shit lyrics.

as for the state of rap music...the path it should have gone on died in the mid 90s and the majority of artists right now are "ringtone rappers" ie they all have the same sound, this is rap's generation of one hit wonders. rock had it as well - look to the 80's and 90's hair and metal bands ...i mean how many of you are still listening to Asia? but please note i said rap and not hiphop. hiphop is quite different - look to artists like Talib, Mos Def, and even to an extent Wale, Kanye, and Kid Cudi ...or back further to groups like the Lost Boys, NWA, etc to understand hiphop and listen to the lyrics. They make mince meat of rappers like Gucci Mane.

as for the autotune, the interesting part about it is that hiphop uses it to an almost comical sense to completely distort the voice so that it just sounds crazy (t-pain, black eyed peas, kanye, etc)....however in country.pop music it is used to fix pitch problems IN CONCERT (ie some of these people can't actually sing well live)...at least we know going into it that kanye sounds like a dead fish when he sings, but if I payed 100+ to see Faith Hill, I dont want to think in the back of my mind that i am being a bit cheated....read the wiki page about it to get more background...http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto-Tune

So in conclusion....Ke$ha, rap, and auto-tune all suck at life. Real Hiphop though...kinda cool still.

I love auto-tune. I can't wait till a group of rockin' robots from outer space invade the pop charts with Lady Giga(bit), Mididonna, and The Black Eyed P Drives completing the scene. I've been listening to that kind of stuff since Kraftwerk and Peter Framptom's version since the mid seventies. It really is very archaic old school.

I have no problem with Ke$ha because of her talent(or not) and music. But off the stage she really does seem to want to be known as the "most stoopid bioch ever".

    Believe it or not...
Ke$ha's given a lot of shit because people cannot differentiate a mixed song over "singing talent", that of which, she has...believe it or not.

Bitch paid her due's a long time ago, writing over 130 songs before she even got her own album, and before that, like Lady Gaga, she did back up vocals and demo's for bigger artists. (Did any of you know Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" was recorded by Ke$ha, given to Avril Lavigne and then she turned it down?)

I have a lot of her demo's and finished songs...and to be fair, she doesn't sound that much different than any average artists that have their demo's out there.

    So... /shrug.

And yes, let's blame Cher. It's the plastic surgery that's keeping her standing!

I don't let music bother me that much...just laugh about a lot of the stuff thats out there. Its catchy and fun but wears off. Will I be listening to Ke$ha next year, probably not. Will I still be blasting Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd...absolutely.

Short answer is that there really isn't any difference between Ke$ha and the tons of other rappers who have done similar things with the Hip-Hop genre. Have you really heard anyone defend any of them? They all suck.

Long answer is that Ke$ha is a pop artist who has risen to ubiquity based on one huge hit. As such, people are going to be angry about it. Especially, when her personality and interviews leads most to believe she spends the majority of her time intoxicated. Regardless if she's paid her dues or not, the fact is she has yet to show anything remotely resembling talented writing or singing in her own music. But I'll be the first to tell you I think her music is some of the catchiest playing on radios today. That doesn't mean I'll ever be defending her as a viable long-term pop artist.

    I actually did defend her.

I'm not saying she'll be here years upon years from now, but she's got material for at least the next three years she could spruce up from demo's and still be big. We'll just see how it all pans out.

P.S. She's not intoxicated most of the time, that's what she portrays for what... a song and a couple interviews and now it's all, "She's a drunk bitch!"
    Uh, no.
Madonna's had sex with Dennis Rodman, that must mean she has her clit pierced.
Nah. That's like saying all gays are the same. Not all drunk party girls who got a taste of the limelight are.

Believe it. The bitch DOES have talent.

    And

I think it makes people dumber.

No one is forcing me to listen to anything, not directly anyways. Every time someone says they hate Kesha, GaGa or some other hyped up artist, they get attacked. People can say that it's ok and they respect your opinion, but it's not always true.

Basically, catchy music has nothing to do with having talent, it may be a smart marketing ploy, but nothing close to having musical talent.

For people who actually take music seriously, they should realize that this is not music, it's just to steal people's money

music should not be taking seriously ..its a form of art

stealing peoples money?!..again no one forced those people to buy ..thats their problem oh and p.s i dont even listen to gaga nor ke$ha, i just respect what they do....and don't bash people that genuinely love what they do..

Wait what exactly are you saying JourneyBegins? Are you saying that because music is subjective no one should take it seriously? That's a weird argument considering that some people make music for a living and take great pride in what they do. Just like with any art form, if the artist is making a mockery of the medium why shouldn't they be criticized?

Guys...seriously...she's an ENTERTAIIIINNNEEERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Her job is to entertain, not end world hunger or bring peace to the world. Taking her any more seriously than that is epically retarded. She can scream standing on a pile of garbage half naked about green goats that ate her pet ferret while riding a gay horse to church for all anyone cares. As long as people are entertained by her and enjoy her, i say she's a success. If you don't understand it, then that's your issue....and to be honest, if it really is an issue for you then you need to do some serious surveying of your life.

Ok bye..see you in the next thread.icon_biggrin.gif

I personally don't even see why a thread like this would be started, if you don't like the music someone makes, don't listen to it, since you are not listening to it, it is not a part of your life. Therefore there is no reason to go out and attack something that the artist that you are currently attacking does.

You see i don't say that whatever you do for a living is stupid, i don't say you do it wrong and i don't say you should stop doing it. Everyone has to make a living and if this is how Kesha does it, good on her.

I know the types of music i like and i listen to them, and them alone, therefore i can not tell you or even bash an artist that i don't like, cause i simply do not listen to them.

Ignoring the types of music you don't like, is as easy as changing the station and you will not have to worry about what this artist did with her last song or what she will do as her next. Let her make her living the way she is and move on with your life.

Sorry that seemed a little harsh... it was not supposed to be like that but i really don't believe you should attack the way others lead there lives, especially since so many people out there today attack homosexuals for being the way we are. Let people live there own lives if you don't like it stay out of it!!!
