I notice a few forums here on HIV issues. It's good to see guys with personal experiences share ideas.

Are you aware of sites completely dedicated to living with HIV?

My friend has recently been diagnosed, after a long bout of pneumonia, and has been prescribed the anti-viral Atripla which will cost him $400 a month even with his insurance. He's looking for generics and for any other alternatives.

    All ideas appreciated.

www.aidsmeds.com is an excellent starting place.

There are few generics on the market for anti-retroviral cocktails as patents usually run 20 years and HIV/AIDS just passed the 25 year mark just recently...AZT the first drug came on the scene late 1980's so it will be awhile before generic treatments bring the cost down...

Your friend is best to look into drug assistance programs in an area around you...which help cover costs...

    David, Thank You.

    Guys, any other ideas.

My friend has just started ATRIPLA and says that the hallucinations are awful and that he had trouble breathing(which may have come from the pneumonia shot).

I'm hoping to find a site for him that is sort of like RJ, where guys trade ideas in forums and can post their questions..

So any ideas on Living with HIV sites are most appreciated.

sent you a direct message about ATRIPLA...

www.aidsmeds.com also has a "parent site" POZ.com with social support and forums just like RJ that discuss:

    Managing Meds
    Treatment News
    Dating/Sex

all sorts of fun things...plus, I know tons of guys on this site that reach out every day to newly diagnosed folks...although something "tangible" and local is always nice as well when he's ready for it...

POZ.com is a good site for a lot of info.

Try POZIAM.com: it provides support for questions on health, help you build a support group of friends and various other activities.
