New song from The Lonely Island merged with Robyn and Sean Combs. I like this a lot.
New Robyn U Should Know Better Music Video
The musical genius has returned since her last successful self-titled disc that featured hits like 'Handle Me,' 'Be Mine!,' 'With Every Heartbeat,' 'Cobrastyle,' 'Dream On,' & 'Who's That Girl.' The entire album was critically acclaimed. Well now, she has 3 albums dropping this year with a single and music video for each release.
Personally, I've been a hardcore fan since 'Robyn is Here' with the international hits 'Show Me Love' and 'Do You Know (What it Takes). I like her because she's persevered after numerous record label disputes with them not allowing her to craft and pursue her own music that she wanted to release. After hearing the electro-influenced 'Who's that Girl' it was thought of at the time by record heads as too weird. She led the bubble-gum pop age in the 90's with Britney and boy-bands following a year later and now she is the leader in this electro-age in 2005 to make it more mainstream. She later bought out her record contract and started her own label Konichiwa Records and is writing, singing, releasing music on her own terms. She's perservered and refused to be a puppet like so many artists today. Her story is rather interesting. She is an intellectual. Her interviews on YouTube are really a good watch.
This is her new music video 'Dancing On My Own' from Body Talk Pt.1. Great song and video! It has that same emotional impact similar to 'With Every Heartbeat' as far as lyrics go and her deliverance. Also, her interpretation in the video...notice the microphone stand in front of her but no mic; Thinking it symbolizes that she is saying how she feels about someone who's now with another, they won't hear or feel what she's saying no matter what because they are now with someone else. This is what I like about her videos. These small visual details have these hidden meanings & at the same time open for translation by the viewer. The same goes for the powerful lyrics. She makes it a point to not be too specific in her lyrics so that they are open for translation and each listener can relate to it in their own way. Robyn takes pride in projecting her music, from videos to the clothing, etc. with each new album release.
In the past, Robyn has collabarated on some outstanding tracks that break the standards in music and define a whole new generation with other popular artists following suit. Its a shame many fail to realize that and her talent and influences on music goes largely unnoticed. Collabarations on tracks with The Knife on 'Who's that Girl' in 2004, Teddybears with 'Cobrastyle' which she remade in her own unique way, Royksopp on 'Girl and the Robot, Kleerup on 'With Every Heartbeat' as she basically demolishes the standards of song formats by crying out the chorus incessantly at the end of the song, Klas of course, whom did many songs with her with I believe 'Keep this Fire Burning' in 2002 which is just amazing, Diplo, & Snoop on the remix of his song 'Sexual Eruption' & once again for the Body Talk series. Much anticipation indeed! Pt. 2 in the trilogy is set for release in September.
