There is indeed something obnoxious about putting a sticker on your car for people to see for any reason really. I've yet to see one cool enough that I'd want to put it on mine.

I wonder what happened to the rainbow stickers you used to see a lot of in the 90s. Don;t they make them any longer?

I have nothing against them. I used to have one that read "My child is an honor student at the state correctional facility."
Edit: Oh and almost forgot...also had one that read "WARNING: Your bitching about my smoking may be hazardous to your health."

Sign still on the back of truck,

    JUST MARRIED

All amazing feedback, no negatives. Our neighbour said, "Freak out us straight people the right way, guys. Change the sign to STILL married and shame the rest of us."

lol, it's not a lifestyle. That would imply we had a choice to be straight (which also isn't a lifestyle.) icon_wink.gif

Very funny.. I like those two.. I enjoy the hell out of the ones that are clever and funny, but still wouldn't want any on my car...especially identifying my lifestyle.

I've got one - a small rainbow in the corner of the rear window of my truck. I'm not much on stickers, either - but it's my way of saying "get used to it" in a relatively backward, rural community. I figure a few people will maybe think a little. No problems, after 8 or 10 years, though once, going through the border into Canada, I had a very nicely groomed, friendly young border guard who refused to let me declare the furniture I was bringing up to my cabin, and kept smiling (was there a wink?) and saying "I'm sure you're going to bring it all back, aren't you?"

I had one on my Volvo, too. At the Salt lake City Olympics I worked for the Swedish Team. Our guys loved to borrow the car and drive around, and one of them mentioned how much he enjoyed watching the expressions.

So yeah, I do. And maybe it's done some good...

Doug, being married is closer to a lifestyle; being gay isn't.

Do You Have A Gay Bumper Sticker On Your Car?

Yes, gay markings on all my cars and motorcycles for over the last 10 years. And I beg your pardon? Nothing I ever put on any vehicle of mine is cheap & tawdry. It is discreet, elegant & classy.

The reason? I've told the story here before. But it boils down to giving courage & encouragement to closest gays who are afraid to come out, afraid they are alone. It has nothing to do with me flaunting my gayness. I have no need to flaunt anything.

But I do want to reach out to those gays who are timid & afraid, to let them know there are others of us, ready to take our chances in a hostile anti-gay Republican world. I can afford to do it, so I do. Others cannot, but that's OK, that's why I do it, because others can't.

And until you realize the real reason for gay pride, you will ask silly questions like this.

Get over yourself... it's JUST a question, not a politcal statement.

I have an NRA sticker on the read window of my pickup.

When I lived in San Diego I had several dozen local punk/garage/alternative band stickers on my Passat Wagon.

never had any gay stickers, sorry.

I used to have a metal plate frame that said "Happiness is Coming" but I can't remember where I put it away for safe keeping when I switched cars.

Closest gays is the typo for closeted gays, that my spell checker did not catch. As well you know. Score one for your gay-intolerant side.

Now that you've told us that gays who have pride are "cheap and tawdry," could you please explain why you mock them? Is it because you are afraid to be known as gay?

I might interpret "I've never had the desire or courage to become a target for homophobic assholes" as "I've never had the balls to come out gay, so I disguise myself. And worry that someone I know might put a rainbow sticker on his car, and I'll be outed by association with him."

Your post reeks of self-hate, fear & loathing. You do realize that, right? That sort of thing's seen here a lot, and on other gay social sites.

Well, some of us are out not only because we enjoy it, but because we think we do good for other gays, even the closeted ones (or closest), and even you.

    1 Rainbow Sticker
1 "No on 1 Protect Maine Equality" sticker
1 Sticker with the following quote:

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

We have one or two homosexuals in Orlando because of all of theme parks, and the ensuing theatrical-type people.
I used to see rainbow stickers all the time, but never do anymore. Then HRC yellow-on-blue equality signs, but not even them.

Are people afraid to put a sticker on their car, or is it because the lifestyle is more accepted?

Although I did see a personalized license plate (or "auto tag" as we say in Floriduh) that said, "I M R U 1 2"

On my old car I had a bumber sticker that read: "Fear the mullet." Then someone stole it, and ever since I have yet to find an appropriate replacement.

when you live in SF, the gold's gym or HRC sticker is enough.
