what? This has nothing to do with reproduction.

Seems like since they can't do anything about the oil leaking into the ocean, they have decided to deal with something they can do something about.

Moments ago, the Senate Armed Services Committee voted 16-12 to repeal "don't ask, don't tell." Fifteen votes were needed to pass the measure. This historic action is the first time Congress has ever taken a vote to repeal the ban on openly lesbian and gay service members in its nearly 17 year history.

I read that McCain had threatened to filibuster. He probably forgot he said that, like he forgot he said he would honor the recommendation of the joint chiefs on the matter if they felt it was time to repeal DADT. Or maybe it was just nap time.

I just can't stand him, and I can not imagine his flip-floping ass as president and that dingbat from the Spruce forests of Alaska as his vp.

When was the last time he was consistent on something, other than switching his responses/views on a matter?

The Maverick ain't so great is he America?

The Immense flaw in DADT that any gay/bi/curious service member is all to familiar with, is the fact that your unit becomes your family and it is impossible to separate your personal life from your cadre and from your battle buddies without blatantly lying, without purposeful deceit.

I'm a firm believer in the army values and my favorite one, which I was selected to recite during my graduation from BCT, was Integrity.

There is no Integrity and honesty when such a system is in place.

I even heard someone once go as far as to say that homosexuality was a danger to unit moral. I think whats dangerous for unit moral is forcing members of a unit to distance themselves from their unit. To lie to their unit. To always know that they are less than the rest of the members of their unit.

Which is exactly how I feel when its not ok for me to admit that my bf is my bf when I take him to a family function my commander is holding, a guy I've been with for years, but then its ok for other people to introduce girlfriends they've known for a week.

Its pure prejudice. There is no excuse for it and people allow silly reasons like whether they agree with homosexuality in the first place to affect their views on whether gay people should be allowed to openly to serve or not.

And I stop to think, thats just the nature of this hateful, so called progressive yet limited nation. To fear change, to hate a minority.

In order to make things right. I either get to serve as an open homosexual male, or lets just take DADT to the next level and not only are you not allowd to say if you're gay or not, but you can't say if you're straight either. We'll just keep it all one big secret and do what the fucking military was meant to do in the first place which is train and deploy.

So when does this go into effect?

I mean doesn't the President still have to sign this into law or something?

We are not anywhere near done. I don't know if it will actually pass.
McCain has promised to stop it by any means possible. We have not hit that hurdle yet:

    Dear old McCain....

Amid all the cries about separate housing, and how gay-rape will go up (AFA) - how about the safety of gay soldiers against idiots who think like McCain? Unhappily, McCain's antics will simply encourage neaderthals who only need a little encouragement to go violent.
