Record setting temps and dew points continue with temps in the 90's and dewpoints near 70. Schools are suppose to remain in sessin here for 1 more week, but students are sweltering in the schools because they are not air conditoned. Wisconsin has never experienced temps and dewpoints this high in May before. The first part of the month we saw record snowfall for the month of May.

The weekend before last, I had the gas fireplace on in the living room. Last weekend, it hit the 80s. Yesterday, I turned the A/C on.

The heat is definitely increasing our business and volume at UPS, so that is good. In fact they had to hire 2 more unloaders. Trailers are coming in full of boxes of fans and air conditioners. icon_smile.gif

Many of our schools have 2 and even 3 floors and on the 2nd and 3rd floors are the worst and almost intolerable for teachers and students. Tempertures on 2nd and 3rd floor classrooms are over 100 degrees inside with extremely humid conditions so that it is like a sauna. I have to cut grass today, but I will just have to drink lots of water. Supervisors were getting us water in the trailers because the heat builds up inside and there is no way to get any air inside. We are just not use to this here and our center is not air conditioned because it's just an empty garage during the day and they have to open all the garage doors for the drivers to get out and then they would lose all the cool air. icon_sad.gif So it doesn't pay to cool the building because they would lose all the cool air when the drivers have to get out. They leave all the garage doors open, so it isn't too bad early in the morning working on the belts, but we don't have any air at all in the back where we unload. When they move a trailer out, we get just a couple minutes of some fresh air outside before they back up another one and then it is really hot inside the trailer. They are coated with a special material to reduce interior heat, but it still gets really hot inside and no windows to open. lol

it's been A/C weather here in new orleans for about 6 weeks now.

this area went from record breaking low temps to about 2 weeks of spring time and then slid into summer. icon_cry.gif

when i renovated this 1882 money pit; the two items i did not begrudge spending money on was attic and below floor foam insulation and high efficiency central air conditioning and heat. icon_idea.gif

I don't know why they make brown trucks and make drivers wear brown, but at least they can wear those sexy brown shorts. Dark color clothing always increases body heat and then they wonder why the drivers have to be taken to the hospital with heat exhaustion. There is no airconditioning in the package area either and gets extremely hot. I never wear dark clothes in the summer. White t-shirt or white tank top (wife beater) is the best and most the time I go shirtless when I am outside in the summer.

The preloaders and reloaders can wear whatever they want at work. The only rule is no open toe shoes and shoes must be made of leather or suede. The guys usually wear gym clothes like muscle shirts or tank tops. The supervisors lead everyone in stretching exercises before we start unloading. (no pun intended)

May for the most part has been a very beautiful and somewhat warm month here in Buffalo. There was some annoying on and off rain in the middle part of May but Memorial Day holiday weekend was perfect, very warm, dry, and sunny. However, sunday morning we could have used a few large passing clouds during the Buffalo Marathon because temps shot through the 80s in the early morning hours and that bright, hot sun made running both the half marathon and the full marathon really difficult.

blackguy4you, from BFD's other topic on this - same forum:
"This summer could become the hottest on record. I know some of you will just think this is coincidence, but God says in the Bible that tempertures and weather patterns will become more extreme. So to me its just another fulfillment of a prophecy."
