I loved how she came out with all the flashing lights and everything that makes a pop star. Then at 3:38 the lights fade, the props are gone, and all you see is her and her mic, showcasing what this show's all about. We rarely get that these days, a pop star with a voice. Couldn't be a prouder fan.

The performance was only okay. I wish she would have broken out into Not Myself Tonight as this song was too somber for this type of broadcast. And her singing sounded strained

I agree!! It wasn't a great performance, vocally. And what's with that thing she does with her voice (there's a word for it...lol) when she kinda goes up and down real quickly. I hate how she does that so much. I didn't watch the whole Idol show last nite, but I found a lot of the songs to be too somber. Now, let me find the Alanis Morisette video...<3

Oh! Found it! THIS was amazing:

Melisma I believe is the word you are looking for. Yeah it does get tiring after so many years, it's part of the reason why I felt in love with her voice in the first place but now I'm like whatever.

Alanis's voice has definitely changed over the years, she can't hit those high notes as easily as she used to but it sounds more mature now which can be a good thing. And you can tell it's her singing cuz she's got her own singing accent.icon_cool.gif

I disagree with people who said she should've sang "Not Myself Tonight". The song flopped hard and Woohoo is kinda flopping too...so she was smart not to promote flops and went ahead with other tracks to showcase her voice.

I preferred if she performed "Lift Me Up", but this one is a good song too.

"I want you to know, that I'm hap-py for you
I want nothing but the best for you both...

While she go down WITH you TO a theater?"

I laughed SO hard when they began doing this song, holding my breath when the "troublesome" parts were about to be sung (and then they changed the words for TV). Awesome.

Like, really, to do THAT Alanis Morisette song during prime time? Deliciously uncomfortable TV.

Unfortunately Ironic and YOK are probably the only songs most people know by LanLan icon_sad.gif A lot of people I bet don't even remember other big hits like Hand In My Pocket, You Learn, Thank U, Hands Clean... I wish they could have done something other than those 2 obvious ones.

Christinas vocals are amazing, and im glad that SOME people seem to recognize that. The general public is so used to the ok to good vocals of GAGA, Swift, Spears, and many other "popettes" and i find it kind of annoying. Christina, Dolly, Whitney (before the crack), Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson (the only two mainstream successful idol winners), Reba, Aretha Franklin, and a select few more. These true singers are easily recognizabe by their vocals, because they are so rare.. just keep that in mind. icon_smile.gif

There was no oversinging in this song. This sounded right on the dot with the studio version. Her runs were also wonderfull. I heard straining once at 7:39. She ran out of breath, and you could hear it in her voice, and she made a sudden gasp. Other than that, her voice was right on. What was absolutely breathtaking was her dramatic changes from her head voice to her chest voice. This preformance was incredible. Also the fact that it was a live preformance. Her voice is left completely exposed, accompanied by nothing but a mere piano and a few strings. There are no synthesized background beats to cover up any mistakes. She deserved a standing ovation.

Woohoo has not been released to the radio yet, therefore it cannot be flopping.

It debuted at #78 on BB Hot 100...that's not a good sign. It's a catchy song, so who knows. I hope it does better than NMT.

Unfortunately, with Christina's GaGa contreversy, people are automaticaly shunning her music, so let's hope it does well.

I thought the performance was "ok". I've seen better performances from her when she is giving interviews and bust out a little something. Although I'm a huge fan of hers, just did not do it for me.

Pregnant Christina Aguilera and her hubby Jordan Bratman enjoyed dinner at Amalfi Restaurant in Hollywood this week….And then, just as Xtina was entering the car-we got a full frontal shot of her bare crotch. NSFW After The Jump.
