Who's got tattoos?

So I got my first one today and I'm wondering how many other guys on here are inked, and what their significance is?

Mine is kinda nerdy, but it's kinda meaningful for me. It's the holy symbol of Saint Cuthbert of the Cudgel; in D&D he's the god of law, justice/retribution, discipline, common sense, zealotry, wisdom, honesty, truth, protection and strength. It's sort of like a reminder under my skin to be the best I can, to do good, to cultivate wisdom and good sense, to protect and to hone strength. And it's all made that much more perfect if I successfully get into law enforcement. I decided on my chest as kind of an echo of wearing a police badge, and because when I thought about chest vs. shoulderblade, chest seemed to put the values & ideas it represents 'out front,' while on my back made me think "people would only see that if I was running away, hell no!"

So, who else has got a tattoo and what does it mean to you?

Imperator and wellbig... your ink is beautiful!

I've got two that were home made (long story... let's chalk it up to young and drunk) that I hate. I'm getting cover ups done later this year. The pentacle on my chest (same spot as your ink, imperator) will be changed to a dream catcher and the heart on my right forearm will become a Native American armband. I have other ink I want to get after my cover ups are done... all of it Native American, because I want my ink to reflect my heritage and my spiritual path.

I have one. It's dragon circling around my belly button. I still need to get it inked in and I plan on getting a few more on my upper back and possibly my calfs.

I want something tribal on my back or on one of my arms. Capitalize on the exotic appeal rather than be ashamed of it. LOL

Might have to wait until I get defined enough for it though.

And I think I'll design mine. LOL. I'm pretty good at intricate stylized stuff. And then I'll have to find a tattoo artist I can trust for it. LOL. Nothing worse than a botched tattoo job.

BTW imperator. Awww, he's from Greyhawk icon_sad.gif

My DnD interests lie only in The Forgotten Realms icon_wink.gif, I would happily brand myself with the spider design of Lloth, patron goddess of the Drow.

I have 7, but the most meaningful one I have is a baby picture of my twin brother and I with our date of births and the times we were born under our pictures. I want to get about 4 more.

I have the Seven Bushido Virtues down my spine, and a half sleeve Gryphon.

No real significance for the Gryphon. I had an apt and the Act of Contrition which i originally was going to have tattooed in latin across my chest and inner biceps woudln't fit (too long) so had to come up with something new at the last minute. it's probably my favorite ink too

The Kanji started out as the kanji for Honor, because i believe it was a good symbol to wear and reminder. When I went out and looked for it, I found it was part of the Bushido way of life, and more I looked into it, more I liked the idea. I had them placed on my spine because i've heard thats' the most painful spot for ink, so I figured Id' start with the worst, then work from there, so the rest of my ink would be minor compared.

Since they drop down my spine to the crack of my ass, i'm not posting pictures of them. Sorry! :-)

You can see mine in a few of my profile photos, but here's a closer view:

    tatarmvq0.jpg

The design is not as significant as the timing was for me. I had it done in Spring of '02 when I was in college. It marked the day I decided not to care what people thought of me so damn much. It hasn't completely cured me of that, but I do remember that time period being a turning point for me. -in more ways than one.

    Hello imperator.

I just got my first tattoo as well this past Saturday. I got mine at "Braindrops" in San Francisco. The guy's name who is working on my tattoo is Brian Hutflies and he is great and friendly guy.

My tattoo I have is a lion. I love lions and I am a Leo.
I like the way lions pray, fight sneek, growl and at the same time they could be very mellow. So dont tick me off!! hahah just kidding. I am very friendly!

I dont think I got a tattoo for a meaningful reason, but if so, I would say Lions Protect their pride the same way I protect My family.

So this picture was taken right at the beginning of my first session. I will post more in my profile once its done. So far, I only have the outline and next step is the shading.

    pain

Imperator, Congrats on your first tattoo! icon_biggrin.gif

I have a half sleeve that continues onto my back on my upper left shoulder blade. Its a Cosmic Tsunami. It was a cover up of a Tribal I had done when I was 16. I also have a pirhannah on my hip, which I am looking to remove/cover up soon.

My next plan is a 40's style ray gun on my other arm. I want an artist to stylize it, but here is my inspiration...

First tattoo is Peter Pan flying across my left shoulder blade; a favorite cartoon character and a symbol of staying young at heart.

Second tattoo is the emblem of the Brotherhood of the Arrow, a Celtic warrior clan. The emblem was the basis for the Ace of Spades and looks like a spade with Celtic knotwork. It's on my right upper arm on the meat of the shoulder (don't know what the muscle is called).

The next one will be in two parts: the Celtic circle of protection on my left bicep. There's knotwork that will wrap it about halfway around my arm. To complete the band, there will be Saxon runes for "Heart" on the inside of my bicep. I've got both Irish and German heritage and want to recognize that.

The bigger symbolism is that the Brotherhood emblem represents an arrow/blade and the protection circle is a shield, so it's a sword & shield reference to ancient warriors. Peter's just back there on my shoulder to confuse everyone. icon_biggrin.gif

I have a Marine Corps tattoo on the ball of my right shoulder.

My husband, however, has multiple markings. He has a rippling rainbow flag all the way around his left bicep, a gargoyle on his right pec and his entire back is a work of art depicting good on one side and evil on the other. In between his shoulder blades are a pair of praying hands.

A Celtic cross is nestled in the small of his back. Talk about looking great naked! Oh yes, and he is completely hairless (naturally) and ripped...

I have 3. A small dragon on my chest that signifies a time of great change for me. A shamrock on my shoulder; I was 18 and wanted something. And the big Egyptian winged sun disk on my back which symbolizes protection, growth and balance. I LOVE it (but it hurt like hell!).

I have a tatttoo on my left leg, really close to my calve muscle. MY tattoo is a cross, it signifies how grateful I am to be here on this earth because I was in a really bad car accident and the only reason why I'm alive right now is because of God.
If you want to check it out, its in my profile

i have four technically!! lol two symbols on my back between my shoulder blades 'balance' since i am a libra and the symbol for 'love' underneath it. under my right bicep is the symbol for 'mighty' most dont know it is there. kind of like my hidden 'strength' lol. there is a symbol in the center of my tribal. the symbol is over my heart for 'fire' hopeless romantic here. my heart is always on fire! and the tribal around it and down my arm has no real meaning i just like the way that it looks!!

I got my first at Spring Break 2007 in South Padre Island, TX (whoop!)

Here's me getting the tatto (And 70+lbs. heavier then, mind you)
    n8348215378670031774ad6.jpg

It's a sun. For me, it symbolizes life. Later on, I plan on getting a moon, take a guess what it symbolizes.

These are the ones that don't require me to drop my panties. The shoulder one is some bad flash that I'm trying to design a cover for. The forearm is my own design incorporating the Aum. It's probably the beginnings of a sleeve...lol
