"Oh my God, my whole life is ruined!" That was so funny. At least you can tell the husband didn't take it so seriously.

The best part of that tired finale was:

    Kelly Clarkson.
    Paula Abdul.
    Janet Jackson.
    Christina Aguilera.
    Alanis.

Ironic how none of it had to do with the show, right?

American Idol quit being about the true raw talent a while back... because let's be honest...
Who pays attention to anyone except Kelly Clarkson for the most part? With the success of Chris Daughtry, it proves the show is unreliable as hell and with a few other exceptions that can light up your radio, does anyone really care where Justin, Ruben, Clay, Fantasia and all the other non-relevant people went?

It's obviously not based upon real talent but popularity. Look at the music industry. If the lead singer of Maroon 5 was on AI, would he have won? Not a chance. He makes millions now.

It stopped mattering a really long time ago who wins the competition. The only two winners that could make the case that it really matters who wins are Kelly Clarkson (Season 1) and Carrie Underwood (Season 4). Everybody else has had varying degrees of success but nothing to really brag about.

Yeah, the husband took it so seriously he wasn't wearing any clothes. I really want those two choosing my music.

The fact that they even have them sing a melody when they know they sound bad for the laughs is like, "Really? Since you know it's a joke, let's make it extremely obvious and un-enjoyable? *click*"

I stopped watching after the season they let William Hung pass through to the judges. After that, I realized this show was letting untalented people through along with the talented people. Maybe if they only let talented people through it would be alot more exciting.

That was my roommates when they watched American Idol. Incidentally they kicked me out in order to bring in one of their friends, who was also interested in American Idol, Glee, and Farmville.

It is funny... but I can't see how anyone could take a reality show that seriously. But that's just me.

    Note from the Op:

I used to love the show. But my "it's all going to pot moment" occurred when Jennifer Hudson was booted off early. Since then I have always questioned the voting. This season it was apparent that the judges just couldn't get enough of Lee. Even when he wasn't that good (which was most of the time for me) the judges still gave him a "pass".

If the recording moguls who are going to steer his career had half a brain they would have his release be a CD of duets with Crystal. They compliment each other.

The show was never about finding "the next great talent", it was about finding the next big block of viewers to tune in to buy the cola and toothpaste advertised between karaoke tracks.
