Now tsk, tsk, getting drunk at 19?
Actually, I used to get drunk legally in the US at 18, before the law went to 21 in 1971 or thereabouts. Just don't make it a habit, 'K, except for birthdays -- YOURS!
Incidentally, just thought of this: at 18 I'd go out with my buddies to drink somewhere, but while living at home I never drank in front of my parents. Even decades later during visits home I never did, nor in restaurants with them, although they always had cocktails themselves. Now isn't that strange?
Was it ingrained habit, or the fear of appearing drunk in front of my parents and disgracing myself? There are times I wish I had applied that last consideration when I was drinking with my friends. I get pretty stupid (OK, more stupid) when I'm drunk.
