    Hey guys,
    (my first thread, ahh!)

    I'm going to be doing a summer biotech program at the University of Kent this summer from July 26-August 14 in Canterbury, UK.
    But i'll be exploring London for a week before and after my program.

    I was just wondering if there were any people on this site who would be willing to chat with me about it?

    I would like to visit all the touristy places of course, but also check out the whole gay scene (the REAL reason i'm going haha).
    I'm very new to this whole thing since. I'm not really out yet back home, therefore these travel abroad/internships i do is my only real chance to explore--hence the nervous excitement. (my first and only experience in a gay club was last summer during my medical internship in Thailand)

    Anyways, I was hoping for some advice and maybe even the opportunity to make a friend there who would be potentially willing to show me the ropes a little in the UK. I'm a little nervous to be going to a gay club by myself in a foreign country...

    i wonder if anyone will even read this icon_neutral.gif lol

    Hi mate
    Canterbury is a great place to visit very much a cosmopolitan city very friendly people not much of gay scene there you will have to go to London (west end )

    Canterbury is world-famous for three things:

    I. Canterbury Cathedral's role as the 'Mother Church' of the Church of England - the Archbishop of Canterbury is the head of the Church of England;

    ii. The murder of Archbishop Thomas Becket inside the Cathedral in 1170, on the indirect orders of King Henry II;

    iii. Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, the most notable piece of early English literature (late 1300's), composed of tales told by travellers on a pilgrimage from London to Canterbury to visit the shrine of the martyred Becket.

    see by your profile you do alot of running. If you are ever up for run we could do the north down run it all up hill about 30 km along the ancient Pilgrims’ Way - North Downs Way National Trail between the cathedral cities of Rochester and Canterbury through some of the most scenic countryside Kent has to offer.

    Sorry cant help you much on gay scene prefer straight pubs and clubs.

    Anyway Good luck for your trip
