I like American people but cannot understand why their dress sense is so poor?? It's not a poor country but even in big US cities they dress very casual and almost don't care how they present themselves, Why is there no style in USA?? Why is everything baggy and ugly they wear???

As an American I must say I was over the silhouette no photo lk...like a yr ago. You trying to bring that trend back is soooooo uncool.

As an American, who has no interest in how he dresses, I tend to be more practical about how I live my life. I have better things to do than buy over priced cotton. I would rather spend that money on travel, preparing for retirement or giving it to charity.

Haha, some Americans would say why is everything so tight and obnoxious in Europe? I'm not trying to be mean, but its just a different style. The style is here is relaxed. Mesh shorts and a T-shirt are everyday going around and doing stuff clothes. It has less to do with presentation and more to do with ease and comfort.

Huh? Are you kidding? That's a ridiculous generalization. It would be like saying "Why are all people in England pale and have bad teeth?". Some of the world's major fashion Icons come from the USA -- Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren to name a few.

See here's the thing, here in the US we have MANY different styles and I will agree some of them are the ABSOLUTE worst!

There are so many different styles of people and they LOVE to express themselves in their own way. What I have noticed that in Europe is that many people attempt to pull of off one general style and most of you can pull it off however there isn't much variety in the style dept.

I'd like to say that I'm pretty well dressed for my age and class. I'm not the wealthiest person around, but I do what I can with what I have. Compared to what I USED to wear when I was younger, I would say that I have a sense of style.

Eurostudd, I assume you are talking about the men in America. There are two reasons why we don't dress more fashionably here in America:

    1. Our stomachs are so fat and our asses so big that we can't fit into those tight European style clothes.
    2. If we dressed like European men, people in America would assume we are fags; and we would be so mortified of this, we would just die, if anyone thought we were gay. I certainly have trouble in Europe telling the gay men from the straight men.

Or are you talking specifically about the gay guys in America...for which I guess the above reasons apply many times also.

I believe the question should be changed to "Why do Americans in New-York, L.A., Chicago, Miami and even down-town Detroit have so much style?"

    Eurostudd = observation fail.

Come on guys, don't get so irritated. The boy is just stating his opinion ...
Now I think people should dress simply the way they want to. I am not a fan of casual sporty look, but I don't mind it if people prefer it. Yes, here in Europe things are a little different when it comes to clothes - we wear more shirts and elegant pants, than t-shirts and jeans. Not all of us, but in most big European cities (and not only) people really try to look their best every day.

For me just a nice body is not enough. I want guys who are dressed well icon_smile.gif
    But that's just what I like ...
I can't say if Americans dress badly or not, first of all because I haven't been to the US and second of all - you can't just say all Americans dress badly. I'ts obviously not right.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Casual doesn't have to be shabbily attired. There has been a progressive trend in the entire industrialized world and the big cities in Europe and America to dress less formally. I am not saying it's a bad thing. It's just the way it is today. I am old enough to clearly recall when no one went on an aeroplane unless the men had suits and the ladies had hats and gloves... But there are certain times it's sad for me to see that people don't enjoy dressing well for such places as the theatre or the opera. But nowhere are people more guilty of putting on jeans for the theatre than the Europeans these days. You're more likely to see Americans dressed really well in NYC and other great N American cities than you are in Paris or London. My Parisian friends are the first to often admit that Parisians are becoming shabbier and shabbier in the last several years and care much less about their appearance than their parents did in the 1960's or 1970's. Bottom Line Eurostud: Americans have their flaws... But don't single them out for this when the Europeans are just as - if not more - guilty of the same thing these days.

please travel the world and you'll see fashion nightmares any were you go. Ever been to Tokyo? Some of the kids there look like they fell off the set of a zombie movie or slash and splatter flick. At times I think some people still see the US through the eyes of a 1950's Hollywood movie, were everyone was dressed fabulous and drove gleaming cars. Sorry but there are lots of different styles because there are billions of different people, some can wear anything and look awsome even if it were a paper bag and others will look like an unmade bed no matter what they wear, its just a fact sorry.

I'm going to a patio bar today wearing my Cat In The Hat t-shirt with my checkered shorts.

I met my ex at a bar while I was wearing my Pig Pen "Calvin Swine" T-shirt and he thought it was an awesome shirt so he had to tell me.

How dare you suggest I am not a couture fashionista. I assure you I spend minutes a day considering what to wear.
